from either side, religious or atheist, or do they simply star each other's Q's and the questioner just award points to the person who apparently most epitomizes their extreme sentiment? And it goes both ways.

Q: "God is a hoax. Can't you accept it?"

A: "Right on! Christians are such idiots!"

Star awarded, and 10 points awarded back.

Q: "Do you realize that you're going to burn in hell if you don't humble yourself to God right now?"

A: "Non believers are idiots and we don't want them in heaven anyways!"

Star awarded, and 10 points awarded back.

I credit myself with a fairly open mind, and certainly capable of putting my OWN thoughts into my OWN words. Does anyone else get frustrated reading Q&As from lemmings? Is it really even worth putting any thought into an intelligible answer for such extreme Qs?

Only 4 people had an opinon on this earlier, but I think it's a really valid Q and the As are also telling.

Can anyone help me because my heart is empty without my mum and dad. They are really against islam because all they see is what is in the papers and on news and will not open their minds to even tolerate me wearing hijab

inshallah i will find some help. I need some support with this one

Please do not tell me we will never know the day or hour because I am already aware of that part. I am looking to see if anyone has any idea as to when we can finally say that the rapture should have happened by now, but since it hasn't, we can finally stop looking forward to it.

It is hard to imagine any scientific theory that is more helpful to religious belief than evolution. Given what we now know about the natural world, if we believe God created everything directly, we would have to believe that God intentionally created our breathing and eating apparatus with the serious potential for choking; that God created parasites to devour their prey alive; that God created insects to digest their mates during the sex act; that God tried making eyes on humans and other organisms, then had a flash of insight and realized that if he wired them the other way around it would make more sense and there would be no blind spot, and so he went on to make squid and octopus eyes the "right way around".

Without evolution, we could only believe in an inept and sadistic creator. So why are so many people who claim to believe in a benevolent, omnipotent and wise creator opposed to the one explanation of these facets of biology that can preserve these beliefs?

If a person of that religion does not respect or believe in any of the holy prophets and their original scriptures, he or she shall be out of their faith.

Getting themselves right with GOD..

Do you believe that most people who are trying to get right want to do it to please GOd or themselves?

I used to think it was a desire to have explanations for the things that science has not yet resolved, or which have complicated theories behind them.

Then I thought it might be the fear of death.

Now I've been presented with the argument that it's a refussal to grow up and take responsibility for themselves.

I think it's probably a mix of all of these depending on the individual, with some believing because it's all they've ever known and they're not capable of expanding their minds beyond what they're taught.

What do you think?

I think Mary got banged and got banged hard to have jesus and that claim is silly.

And I also believe the stork delivered Jesus too. Jesus didn't come out of her vagina

IF GOD:

cannot be seen face to face, yet you see him and even talk to him

is incorporeal, yet he exists somehow

is eternal, yet you say that all things imply a creator

is omnipresent, yet elusive for us feeble mortals

is omniscient and omnipotent, yet Adam and Eve managed to hide from him

created the universe and the world in a poof, but we haven't witnessed any of his POF creations lately (like a new continent or a huge new planet)

created Adam from mud and Eve from a rib, yet you have no proof

CAN do WHATEVER he can think of, yet he CANNOT lie, destroy himself, fail, sin, make mistakes

was never created, yet again, existence implies creation

has always been there, yet (same as above)

will never die, yet has feelings that are necessary to survive (like envy, anger, grief and shame)

will bring the good ones to heaven and send the bad ones to hell, yet no two religions agree on who is who

etc....

How do you think all these contradictions make for a believable deity?

From a previous question someone asked I am curious about peoples thoughts on speaking in tongues.
I have seen many say it is not of God, or that these tongues are just different languages, but I disagree with this.

1 Corinthians 2:12-13 "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual"

What are your thoughts?

That would mean that he was born by Parthenogenesis, which occurs when an egg cell is triggered to develop as an embryo without the addition of any genetic material from a male sperm cell.

This asexual reproduction reduces genetic diversity and this makes it harder for organisms to adapt - to changed environmental conditions. So therefore was Jesus a genetically substandard human being?

I've never understood this and am in no way interested in starting any sort of theological debate. The grammar freak in me just wonders why in the hell people don't just type out the entire word.
