I'm in a theater group for teenagers and our director is a fundamentalist Mormon, very observant, won't work on Sunday,

She has a very strict, heirarchical way of doing things, and refers to all the actors (age range 13-17) as "the children." It's not just a terminology thing; she treats us all like we're four years old, and said that there couldn't be a director and a co-director because "it would be too confusing, the children wouldn't know who to report to,: which makes no sense. We're all sharp enough to figure it out.

Also, everyone (including the kid who turns 18 in two weeks) has to have a parent supervisor except for her son, who's 16. I have to have a parent supervisor for my six lines, and he can run all the tech by himself. Is he officially a man or something?

She has a very sexist view of things and she constantly quotes the Bible.

Is this more personality or religion? Her four kids are like that too.

Nothing against her, just curious.

religions all over the place has god got lazy or does he jut not care any more? since the sikh gurus i dont think theirs been any new ones and that was a few hundred years back the abrahamic religions havent had one since mohammed. so where are all the new ones going to come from?

She's a wonderful person, very nice, intelligent, and pretty. But he is concerned about possible cultural barriers. He's also afraid that he wont meet up to her standards. Are these valid concerns to consider before persuing or should they just stay friends? Is ther anything else he should consider before asking her?

All gods and goddesses were made up by someone at some point in time. This includes the Celtic pantheon, Egyptian gods, the Christian God of Abraham, etc.

And I've never seen anyone whip out some digital pics of a Supreme Being as proof that he/she does indeed exist. How about you? *grin*

How is one to find happiness in work that is not intellectually and/or spiritualy stimulating?

While I understand that we must find true happiness in everything we have and do, I am finding it very difficult to find happiness for myself, when it comes to my job.

And, what makes it even more difficult is the fact that the job itself, on the surface, is an amazingly great job with a sincere purpose that pays better than any other job I could get if I were to quit and try my luck in the job market.

The job is working for a non-profit organization that helps evaluate and maintain the laws the regard construction workers . (In other words, we make sure the "little guys" in construction are paid/treated correctly, etc).

So, as you can see, it's not the job itself that is bad, but rather my mindset for it. My actual job is doing nothing but very simple and boring paperwork & database entry. This is why it is very hard for me to find it -at all- intelectually/spiritualy stimulating.

bashed for the Bible, creation, the Church itself, Christians themselves, Christian activities and programs. I assume you heard of Christian projects, humaitarian endeavors, Christian outreach, evangelism, Christian aid, etc. Look around town or in a phone book, see how many Christian programs there really are. MANY hospitals have Catholic or Christian names . Why? Because they started, built, and back them. Christian "soup kitchens", Christian outreach/aid such as -feed the children, food for the poor, thrift stores, keep cool centers, warming centers, coats for the needy, Christian schools and universities (Noter Dame, Holy Cross, Concordia, CBC) to name a few. Outreach, evangelism, programs such as mission projects in Africa, Evangelism in South America, Outreach America, people like Billy Graham, plus radio and TV programs. Atheist, Darwinians, evolutionists, offer aid where? to whom? Answer...nothing and no one. No hospitals, aid/outreach centers. No aid to/for anything.

Do you think people who hates Islam knows enough about it? Or are they just ignorant people who haven't studied enough of the religion. I've seen a lot of screwing around with the words in the Qur'an to make the Qur'an sounds like a bad religion. Why are they doing this? I am a Muslim, and personally, I've never seen anything offensive in the Qur'an when I read it myself. But some website interprets the Qur'an in a way that a terrorist would use it.

Almost everyone I'm surrounded by now are Christian conservatives. They support the war, no matter that we can't take care of the vets. They don't care anything about the environment b/c the world is coming to an end so why bother. There is a verse in the Bible that states we are supposed to be good stewards of the earth. They laugh at me when I say I want to help others through my writting. They want Christians to start having lots of babies b/c we have to catch up w/ the Muslims. I believe in adoption and they just look at me like I'm stupid. I'm not sending this out in anger...I just want to know. And I'm not saying all conservatives are like this. Just the ones I know. Today my friend looked at the front page of the newpaper and it was about the green house effecct and things we can do to try to slow it down. He just laughed and said the ideas were ridiculous. I just don't get it? Do you want the world to come to an end faster than it is already? Please no hate replies.
