"One of the most basic laws in the universe is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This states that as time goes by, entropy in an environment will increase. Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible: UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it. [emphasis added]"

This oughta be good for some laughs...

It just occurred to me that I can't say for sure whether either of my parents ever did or do now. Then again my father has Alzheimer's, so he believes all sorts of stuff!

Obviously they weren't ever church-goers, which would have been a bit of a give-away (duh!), but it just wasn't something that was an issue in our home. I actually suspect that they do/did both believe in their quiet way - my brother and I were both baptised. Which is a funny story, my mother's Anglican and my brother was "done" by them, but by the time I came along they'd had a falling out with that lot so I was dunked by the Lutherans (my dad's lot).

So are we just a bunch of heathens or what?

I might add that my dad's sister and her husband are very devout - in fact their son is a Lutheran Minister - but they are very good about just slipping off to church when we visit. We have a tacit understanding that while we are always welcome to join them, they would probably fall over if we ever did.

Atheists, don't just throw somthing stupid in here, you worship, too. Some worship themselves, others sports figures, others money. So you can answer intelligently also!

Yes. We know. It's "April Fool's Day", and we're probably going to get an influx of questions about this retarded joke.

"Oh, ha ha, the Bible calls atheists fools, so April Fools' Day is their own personal holiday, I'M SO CLEVER!"

There is a verse called Siksataka # 3 , that states, :

One can chant the holy name of the Lord in a humble state of mind, thinking himself lower than the straw in the street. One should be more tolerant than the tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige and ready to offer all respects to others. In such a state of mind one can chant the holy name of the Lord constantly."

A friend shared with me that he has done some of his best chanting when not feeling especially humble so he was trying to understand the co-relation between humle prayer / meditation, and why it is essential . Perhaps without humility , one will be too arrogant to be able to keep up this practice ?

I was invited to go to church with my friend and she's Catholic. My family (they are Baptist) told me that Catholics's worship Mary and most of their practices are just based on tradition and ritual and are not found from the bible. What are your opinions?

I read that the top Saudi cleric (from 1993 - 1999), whose name is Sheikh Abdul Aziz Ibn Baz, wrote a book where he tried to prove that the earth is flat and not revolving about the sun. He even said that anyone who says that the earth is not flat is considered infidel (that was in late 20th century).
