It just occurred to me that I can't say for sure whether either of my parents ever did or do now. Then again my father has Alzheimer's, so he believes all sorts of stuff!

Obviously they weren't ever church-goers, which would have been a bit of a give-away (duh!), but it just wasn't something that was an issue in our home. I actually suspect that they do/did both believe in their quiet way - my brother and I were both baptised. Which is a funny story, my mother's Anglican and my brother was "done" by them, but by the time I came along they'd had a falling out with that lot so I was dunked by the Lutherans (my dad's lot).

So are we just a bunch of heathens or what?

I might add that my dad's sister and her husband are very devout - in fact their son is a Lutheran Minister - but they are very good about just slipping off to church when we visit. We have a tacit understanding that while we are always welcome to join them, they would probably fall over if we ever did.

Good point raised.
Do we really know anything about or parents?

Whether they believed in God, the baby they had out of wedlock and placed up for adoption, the run-ins with the law they had as teenagers, extra-marital affairs, the drugs they experimented with, the secret-societies they pledged to.
Ah, so many unknowns!

Jeez, parents must be human after all.

PS. Anyone that can raise a laugh from religion AND Alzheimers in the same question is okay by me.

My parents weren't church goers either. They actually went to a church a few times while my mom was still alive. I was surprised. But my dad said that it wasn't a church were they would talk about God. They talked about 'other things'.

My dad recently converted to Christianity after thinking that he was saved for going one day when he was young and getting baptised. He didn't realize that it was a life of faith. Notw that he's committed himself to Christianity, he's findingt out how difficult it can be for a new believer. He's totally judging me and at his age it's really taking a toll on our relationship.

He's going to a Bible Study or something with other Christians, I just hope that they are guiding him the right way-- it's too difficult to tell.

My parents have never mentioned a word of what they believe. I know they were both raised around christian settings but they don't live in anyway like christians. They only told us to figure out religion by ourselves. I have found my way to Islam, my oldest sister is a Pagan, and my other sister is Athiest. Family reunions are going to be hell.

"Are we no longer able to looking the authentic god/faith?" actual, the answer to this part of your question is "No" using fact mankind won't be able to locate God by their very own efforts. it rather is like an Ant attempting to locate a guy by it rather is very own efforts. If the guy does not exhibit himself to the Ant then the Ant has no desire of success. that's what distinguishes the Christian faith from all different religions. The Christian faith teaches that on our very own we are hopelessly lost yet that God has made a manner for us to nicely known Him in actuality and spirit by faith in Christ and the indwelling of God's Holy Spirit that provides us new existence in and by God. different religions coach that folk who keep on with the policies of the religion can become steadily extra clever people and by some ability locate God this way. to bypass lower back to the Ant analogy, it extremely is like asserting that if an Ant did a large style of workouts it might desire to by some ability become useful adequate to beat the stumbling blocks that forestall different Ants from looking a particular guy. no count number how plenty extra effective than the different Ants the single doing the workouts will become, it rather is efforts won't be able to prevail. it rather is a similar way with our sin separation from the Holy God of Heaven. All of our manipulations right here on earth have not have been given any probability of gaining knowledge of an infinite being who's unwilling to be found until we come to Him having been cleansed of our sins via the blood of his Son. John 14:6 Jesus stated to him, "i'm the way, and the reality, and the existence. no person comprises the daddy different than by me. 7 in case you had favourite me, you will possibly have favourite my Father additionally. to any extent further you do understand him and function seen him."

You are confusing Churchianity with Christianity. The devil belileves in God and goes to church all the time. Yet he is destined for hell.
We are born sinners and God made a way to save our souls from hell and our lives from destruction and corruption. He sent Jesus to pay the price of sin which is blood from a perfect Lamb. Jesus was that lamb being without sin. So we can come to God through Jesus who is our mediator.
We should go to church to worship and fellowship but, that
does not save us. It is good for us as it helps us be strong.

The question is not if your parents believe in God, a little closer to home is, Do you believe?
We can use our time worring about someone else, it's best to pray for them if we can't do anything about the situation. But for ourself, we can seek him with all our heart.
