I add to scriptures like this..

Proverbs
1:22-33 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? 23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24 Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; 25 But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; 27 When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. 28 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: 29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore ...

I'm looking for something that can be used in reference to recycling. I'm trying to convince my religious neighbors to start recycling. I figure since none of the obvious reasons for recycling appeal to them, perhaps an order from God would.

Just so you know, we're are friends, so I'm not being mean about it.

I do not believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I do not believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was not conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, however, was buried.

He did not descend into hell.
On the third day he did not rise again.

He did not ascend into heaven
and is not seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will not come again to judge the living and the dead.

I don't believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Some people here (namely Davie and gang etc) feels that George Bush was wrong in opening up the can of worms by waging wars against islamic terror.

But I think its wrong to think that way because whether islam is terrorist or not is in its inherent character. If it is not terrorist dogma, would the world today be suffering from it? If it is terrorist dogma, is it wrong for George Bush to remove their mask of feigned 'peace'?

Do we blame the person for removing the mask of islam and showing its true colors or do we blame islam for being ugly?

Let's get our facts right.

1 John 5:14-16

14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

This is more of a political question, but since it deals with nontheists, I've chosen to post it here.

After Rep. Pete Stark revealed that he is a nontheist today, Lori Lipman Brown, director of the Secular Coalition of America, stated that "If the number of nontheists in Congress reflected the percentage of nontheists in the population...there would be 53-54 nontheistic Congress members instead of one."

How can nontheists get more nontheists elected, or should that even be a priority?

Myself, a candidate's religious beliefs are of little importance so long as he or she respects religious freedom and separation of church and state and doesn't try to give preference to or mistreat any faith. I'm far more interested in electing QUALIFIED, RESPONSIVE, and RESPONSIBLE leaders than I am insuring that they are nontheists.

From: http://www.hyscience.com/archives/2006/01/are_muslims_lea.php

Here's some interesting facts that I found on the forum - Islam Watch, which appear to substantiate the claim of the poster that indeed, Muslims are leaving Islam for Christianity.
A tip off the iceberg in Malaysia: 250,000 muslims leaving islam. http://radio.weblogs.com/0106101/2006/03/27.html
According to the post, there are more muslims leaving Islam than there are new converts coming into Islam.
2 million ethnic Muslims converted to Christianity in Russia.
In Africa, 6 million muslims convert to Christianity every year. English Translation here.
"In every hour, 667 Muslims convert to Christianity. Everyday, 16,000 Muslims convert to Christianity. Ever year, 6 million Muslims convert to Christianity. These numbers are very large indeed".

The only arguement I here for creation is "It is so complex there Must be a designer..."

In other words "I'm too stupid to understand it, so someone must have created it..." even though those who have studied facts all there lives are telling and showing them they are erroneous. How can you persevere to immerse yourself in stupidity, even after being proven wrong? Just because you don't know what the heck is going on doesn't mean the sky daddy had to make it. It means you need to read a book. How do you like using God to fill in the holes in your knowledge? "I don't understand, so God did it..." just like the flat earth, earth as center of universe, etc.Lol ptolemaic spheres. God has been pushed back as we learn the truth. Why is the Christian God only a filler until knowledge replaces him?

Okay, both of my parents are what I'd consider pure/true christians. They live a christian-like life. They don't go around with thier bibles preachin' and criticizing people for not believing.
Now, there's this lady who lived a very wild life. She's about 50 and sometime in her 40's she found God. That's fine. Yet, I feel like she's almost making fun of Christians. Everytime you speak to her she is constantly quoting verses from the bible and blessing God. Every chance she gets. It can be real annoying. It's as if she's obsessed with being a Christian. I get that she doesn't want to go back to her old lifestyle. But I feel like she needs to tone it down some.
What do you think?

please take this in the non-insultery context, as I'm not always good at phrasing...

1) why do muslims change their names? is it essential in Islam, or just a preference of some muslims?

2) are muslims required to learn Arabic?, cuz i tend to see a lot of non-English phrases by muslims on here...

3) do you view most as ignorant of your religion, or just misinformed? Cuz I don't hate anyone, nor do i regard you as terrorists, yet a lot of people tend to think that way of me because I'm non-muslim.

4) what exactly would be the penalty if a woman removed her headscarf (hijab I think they're called) in public?

5) *optional question. what ticks you individually off most about people claiming to be Christian? and do you consider yourself as an individual a stereotyper of Christians?

kinda like there was a 'good' you and an 'evil' you battleing things out... I've been to the depths; and I've been in heaven; and the only thing i've ever found was this middle ground. For those of you that know me, I ask; "How do you reconcile the 'middleness' of things without swaying back and fourth between the dark and the light?"
