Yes, you can confess to God. The idea eventually of course, would be for you to fully accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. - because after all, if you believe in God and pray to Jesus to forgive you - you are acknowledging that He is the Lord. When this happens, you will find a new strength and resolve to learn more of Him. I would suggest you seek out an evangelical church in your area, and NOT necessarily a mainstream Catholic, Lutheran or whatever mainstream church is in your area. Pray about what church the Lord may want you to go to. There you can meet with the Pastor or someone in leadership if you like, and talk about your questions without any pressure.
If you are not yet ready to go to a church, no problem, but do get yourself a good copy of a bible and start to read about God and Jesus. Pray over your studies, and the Lord will show you things you need to know or direct you to the places you need to get answers.
Blessings to you :)

I am in the exact same boat as you. I have done some studying on this subject and have come to the conclusion that all you have to do is believe in your heart and soul. If you truly believe then go to a place were you can be alone and confess your sins and ask for Gods forgiveness. Many people go to a priest to confess but don't really believe in their hearts. God is always listening to you and is always ready to help those who truly believe. God is almighty he needs no middle man just your honest heart felt sincerity. Good luck and God bless you.

You don't need to confess to a priest, he can't save you, no matter how many hail Mary's he tells you to say. Only Jesus can save you. Do you believe that He can save you from your sins? If so, then you're right. Pray and ask Jesus to save you from your sins and ask Him into your heart. If you can point to a time in your life when you've accepted Jesus, then you're saved an on your way to Heaven. You can' t loose your salvation, either Isn't God wonderful? Ephesians 2:89 says "for ye are saved by grace through faith, for it is a gift of God, not of works, least any man should boast".

That's the best thing to do is confess to God yourself when you know you have done something wrong. A priest isn't needed because Jesus is our High Priest too.

Yes, you can confess to God with out going to a priest or a pastor. I'm a christian and not a catholic and I confess to God with out going to my pastor. Only the catholic religion goes to their priest for confession. It is especially ok since you are not a catholic.

You don't have to confess to anyone but God. Confession is a Catholic ritual. Read your Bible. Many religions today are exploited by the leaders of churches. Look at how the religious leaders of Islam are twisting the words in the Koran in order to get their followers to do evil. If you read the Koran you would see that many of the acts carried out by these Islamic religious zealots are against the Koran. I was Protestant, Episcopal, Baptist, and even Wiccan for awhile. Organized religion was setup as a form of government in our early history. It was a way of keeping society in line through guilt and fear of damnation. The true teachings of any religion are found in their bible. Read it and you will have your answer. I am Christian but I did not truely learn about religion until I went to a non-denominational Church and read the Bible from front to back. To let other tell you what is true is to allow them to lie.

This is a very serious answer. Yes but don't use God when it suits you. You DO NOT need an intercessor when you pray. Boy-loving priests are not that close to God, they are worthless. Pray and ask for forgiveness but also thank God for your blessings God should be part of your life, good times and bad.

All you have to do is talk about your feeling with God. Pray, talk, ponder, all of those things. Confessions to a priest is a catholic ritual, by all means one that catholics believe in strongly, but I dont think its a must for all Christians. At the end of the day, your maker is the one who will judge you, so talk to him and leave it in his hands.

Yes, it is okay all you have to do is confess to God, noone else really matters unless you want to let someone else know? Sorry but the Catholics don't make much sense to me....
All you have to do is confess to God, and ask Jesus to forgive you and He will, no need for a third pary just you and God....

you do not need to confess to a priest as you have not been baptized in the Catholic Church. going to one service doesn't make you a Catholic all it means is that you visited the Church.
if you really feel the need to confess to a clergyman i suggest that you go to a nondenominational church. otherwise sincere prayer and asking for forgiveness will be good too.
blessings.
