Okay, both of my parents are what I'd consider pure/true christians. They live a christian-like life. They don't go around with thier bibles preachin' and criticizing people for not believing.
Now, there's this lady who lived a very wild life. She's about 50 and sometime in her 40's she found God. That's fine. Yet, I feel like she's almost making fun of Christians. Everytime you speak to her she is constantly quoting verses from the bible and blessing God. Every chance she gets. It can be real annoying. It's as if she's obsessed with being a Christian. I get that she doesn't want to go back to her old lifestyle. But I feel like she needs to tone it down some.
What do you think?

I thank you all for your responses. Did I did not expect so many! Just so you know, I do not consider myself a Christian. Yes, I grew up in a Christian household, and I do very much believe in God. I've seen how he's pulled my mom through some VERY hard times. However, I myself do not live a Christian life, so therefore, I can't really call myself one, can I? I guess I'm just as lost as this lady.

And when and if I do accept the Lord into my heart, I will know just what not to do.

God knows her heart.
It's not for US to judge the truth or purity of her convictions.
Are some Christians more forthright (or extreme) than others? Absolutely.
Is that right or wrong? Not for me to say.

Well, my friend do not begrudge her conversion. Rejoice with her. Give her time and the Lord will balance her zeal. Be patient. If she bothers you too much at least try and be civil with her until you learn to be charitable towards her. Yet, if you try to "tone her down" or any human being for that matter, this will make her shout out all the more. And if minor irritation is the reason why you want her to "tone it down some" then why should a Christian wish for another Christian to be quieter? Maybe you should ask yourself why the irritation? Obviously, the woman is sincere and consistent in her manner and is not making fun of Christianity. So why do you think she is? Answering these questions may help you to find an answer. May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.

I know what your talking about. I work with the public and you can't begin to imagine how many people I have coming up to me - that I have never seen before and know nothing about me - start off with the assumption that I am not saved, that it is only them that could ever possibly lead me to the Lord.
I smile. Say a prayer for them. When they start trying to hand out their tracks - I give it back to them, smile, then tell them that I already have a congregation of believers that I gather with. If they keep coming back and get to know me - they figure out in a very short time that I am a Christian and then tone it down around me.
But then I am an 'old lady' and most aren't going to be pressing anything on me if only because of my age.

You say she is 50
God saved her from that wild life less then 10 years ago.
God saved her! You grew up in a Christian environment.
Me too. We didn't go through things she did. God really saved her! Took her out of hell. She's excited about this. And, like the woman at the well, she wants the whole world to know this Jesus that saved her from hell.
She might not tone down. C an't.

True Christians forgive and live a life of Godly love and not worldly love which it sounds like she is doing. She sounds like she is a corner preacher like its described in the bible, which how we are told not to preach the word of God. You are right she does need to tone it down. But if she feels so strongly of what she is doing, pray for her, and show her the way that she needs to be living. Set the example you want her to live. Read the bible in front of her and show her the godly and Christian life she should be living.

I agree that over the top Christians can get annoying. I'm a believer, and I have a very strong faith of my own but jeez! I'm not out there, ranting and raving about God. I keep my faith, which is my own, to myself. So over-the-top people can just get on my nerves.
But does she need to tone it down? I'd say let the dog have its bone. We can't really know what she's like, or what her faith is. We don't know if her relationship with god is real, or just an act. Or maybe, because she found so late and after so much trial, it is that much more intense and meaningful to her. I'm sure she means well.
It's too bad you have to listen to her, but I think you should just grin and bear it. It would be unkind of anyone to tell her to shut up. Just ignore her, or make funf of her in your head. That's what I do!

People who tend to extremes will go to extremes with Christianity. It's possible she has an addictive personality which tends to create the need to go overboard in any area of interest. The other possibility is she is so over excited by her new freedom she is unaware of her obsessive behavior.
I can remember going to start a savings account and the new bank manager being the one to help me. He must have quoted 30 verses to me during the time it took to open an account. When I left I was torn between being saddened that he would drive people away from God and amused because he was so driven to make sure others knew he knew his Bible.

A true Christian will want to share their faith and be will to suffer the persecution for it. They do this because it is a command from Christ himself and they know that without Jesus the person will be damned forever. As Christians this concerns them they do not want anyone going to hell just like God. They want them all to come to repentance just like God because God's spirit is within them. They know the truth and they know that Jesus is the only way to God. Whoever believes that Jesus is not the way to God, one of many options to God, or believes that Jesus is the way to God along with good works and being religous is not in the truth and is not a Christian. Salvation is in Christ alone.

If your a Christian and dont have a heart for the lost then I'd question your own salvation.
I'm obsessed with God and I love to talk about Him to anyone who'll listen. The way He's changed my family and I have been amazing. I'm so excited about the Lord I can't help, but not talk about Him. We can't say who is a true or fake christian because we're not God and only He can judge.

Me and my parents are steadfast believers in the God of Heaven and earth. I personally think that you don't have to quote verses every minute of every day, however; you should be obsessed with the Lord. there is no limit to how obsessed you can be in this subject. And if you don't believe me , the bible can back me up.Thanks for sharing your faith. God bless you.

she might be true and maybe not, I can not judge her. If she is passionate about God, never tell a person to tone it down. Maybe she is just so a happy to have found God, don't discourage that!
Go to this site and then pick the selection called "Toxic Faith" it has some really good examples
