Christianity is a religion, yes. But so is Buddhism, Islam, Mormonism, etc. To be Christian does not mean the same thing as to be religious.

I would love to have a Christian's point of view, an atheist point of view, a Muslim's point of view, etc.

I just am really curious as to why people turn away from God's love when He tries so hard to bring you to His bosom. Dont they understand that it is not personal when people go to hell, and that He really can not help us unless we help ourselves? Or do they just not know that God can not be a part of sin because His being is pure. God sent His son to die for us, because He could no longer talk to us directly because of what we had become. He uses the Holy spirit to guide and influence us until the very moments until we die, simply because he truly wants to be with you for eternity. Those who think that God is the reason behind all the suffering and death in the world are accusing the wrong guy. God created us, and then we took over. He tries even to this very day, to help us but we just dont listen to His cries. Im not talking about actual cries, but dont you feel His prescence when you do something wrong or when you cry or when you are happy? I hope you all can meet Him in eternity.

There must be one real and truth religion in this world. If we born and/or die in a wrong one it would be such a waste to live on. If you have strongly argue you hold the truth one. Are sure up to 100%. If not, there still time up front.

First i want to start out my saying that i'm catholic. My fiancee is not and has not been baptized. We want to get married in the catholic church and he has to be baptized in order for that to happen. My first question is where can you just go get baptized without it being a long process. And for those who are catholic did he have to be baptized when he was little for it to count to marry me or can it be at any time as long as he is baptized.?

Whom did the apostles Peter and Paul understand to be the “rock,” the “cornerstone”?
Acts 4:8-11, JB: “Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, addressed them, ‘Rulers of the people, and elders! . . . it was by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the one you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by this name and by no other that this man is able to stand up perfectly healthy, here in your presence, today. This is the stone rejected by you the builders, but which has proved to be the keystone [“cornerstone,” NAB].’”
1 Pet. 2:4-8, JB: “Set yourselves close to him [the Lord Jesus Christ] so that you too . . . may be living stones making a spiritual house. As scripture says: See how I lay in Zion a precious cornerstone that I have chosen and the man who rests his trust on it will not be disappointed. That means that for you who are believers, it is precious; but for unbelievers, the stone rejected by the builders has proved to be the keystone, a stone to stumble over, a rock to bring men down.”
Eph. 2:20, JB: “You are part of a building that has the apostles and prophets for its foundations, and Christ Jesus himself for its main cornerstone.”
What was the belief of Augustine (who was viewed as a saint by the Catholic Church)?
“In this same period of my priesthood, I also wrote a book against a letter of Donatus . . . In a passage in this book, I said about the Apostle Peter: ‘On him as on a rock the Church was built.’ . . . But I know that very frequently at a later time, I so explained what the Lord said: ‘Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church,’ that it be understood as built upon Him whom Peter confessed saying: ‘Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God,’ and so Peter, called after this rock, represented the person of the Church which is built upon this rock, and has received ‘the keys of the kingdom of heaven.’ For, ‘Thou art Peter’ and not ‘Thou art the rock’ was said to him. But ‘the rock was Christ,’ in confessing whom as also the whole Church confesses, Simon was called Peter.”—The Fathers of the Church—Saint Augustine, the Retractations (Washington, D.C.; 1968), translated by Mary I. Bogan, Book I, p. 90.
Did the other apostles view Peter as having primacy among them?
Luke 22:24-26, JB: “A dispute arose also between them [the apostles] about which should be reckoned the greatest, but he said to them, ‘Among pagans it is the kings who lord it over them, and those who have authority over them are given the title Benefactor. This must not happen with you.’” (If Peter were the “rock,” would there have been any question as to which one of them “should be reckoned the greatest”?)
Since Jesus Christ, the head of the congregation, is alive, does he need successors?
Heb. 7:23-25, JB: “Then there used to be a great number of those other priests [in Israel], because death put an end to each one of them; but this one [Jesus Christ], because he remains for ever, can never lose his priesthood. It follows, then, that his power to save is utterly certain, since he is living for ever to intercede for all who come to God through him.”

If so, what was it like, and what did you see? Did He embrace you for a split second or did He talk to you before you snapped out of it? Im just curious to know what God or an angel said to you.

I feel so bad for my creator having been here for eternity and having to create us for love and joy. I can not truly imagine what He must feel, and this makes me love Him that much more, almost like a brother as well as a father. After all, he is kind of in the same boat as us. If my love makes Him feel good, or if I give Him company in eternity, then I couldn't ask for a better friend. Does anyone else feel the same?

There are a group of Christians that are going through the posts, giving thumbs down to all the answers that are negative in any way towards Christianity!

I know, I know... They are representing the lowest common denominator, the chicanery of a sophomoric and obtuse intellect, but if we banded together, I'm so sure we could beat them up.

I hear people describing the present geopolitical situation as a "war between Christianty and the muslim world". I think some people like to dramatize these things, but is it at all helpful to put it in those terms?

Hasn't the US invaded Iraq just for oil?

That doesn't sound like a holy war.

And if there is an actiual war going on between Christendom and Islam, then it is a war being fought only by a few people who do not represent their religion as a whole.

What do you think?

The church is divided. You cannot refute that assertion. Why do we have all these different denominations?. Are they the product of creativity or dissent?
