If you say that they should be urged to convert , does this not contravene the basic human right that "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion".

In a previous question, most christians said that atheists should not have less rights than christians.

Why then, should we not have the right quoted above

(aimed only at those who believe that atheists should be subject to conversion attempts)

No one knows for sure the actual date of Jesus' birth. That's already been established. What bothers me the most is when fellow Christians get on my case for putting up a christmas tree in my house and such........
I don't worship the tree......I don't worship the lights....I don't worship the gifts....
I worship God through Jesus Christ.
When your child has a birthday that falls on a Tuesday, isn't it much easier to have the party on that following Saturday so that alot more people can show up?
It's the same thing with Jesus......it doesn't matter what day we celebrate it on....the fact is....He was born to begin with....and praise God for that.

Your thoughts.......(this ought to be interesting)

NEED a meaning of life
NEED a reason to pray, worship of an imaginary god

-because of the-

FEAR of not going to heaven
FEAR of not having eternal life
FEAR that they're not alone
FEAR that they have no one to turn to
FEAR of not having someone looking after them

and the craziest (most over-looked) reason...

FEAR OF THEIR OWN GOD IF THEY DONT SERVE AND WORSHIP IT FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIVES, FOR THEY WILL BE CONDEMNED FOREVER.

First off, why does the Bible assume w*nking? Secondly, what if your neighbor is the same gender as you or super old or something?

I'm torn on this one. I know that certain things I have given up (Or am trying to) can be very hard to do so, because I already know I like them. But, there's also a certain level of power coming from the things that I wanted to do, but will not now due to my newer found morals. Sort of a "But I never even got to try it!" approach.

What are your thoughts?

I'm a christian and so I believe in Jesus and the Father. So let's say for a second that I'm right: I spend eternity in heaven, and let's say that I'm wrong: I die, go in the ground, end story. Now let's say for you non-believers that your right: You die, go in the ground, end story. Now let's say your wrong: You burn in hell for eternity. Now who has the upper hand in these scenarios?

'If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother, and his blood will be on his own head.

10 " 'If a man commits adultery with another man's wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.

11 " 'If a man sleeps with his father's wife, he has dishonored his father. Both the man and the woman must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

12 " 'If a man sleeps with his daughter-in-law, both of them must be put to death. What they have done is a perversion; their blood will be on their own heads.

13 " 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

14 " 'If a man marries both a woman and her mother, it is wicked. Both he and they must be burned in the fire, so that no wickedness will be among you.

All the victims of hunger and war and rape have no hope. Evil and torture has no punishment. There is no Justice, triumph to the strong ones and lucky ones and defeat to the weak ones and unfortunate.

Wouldn't it be a tragedy if God didn't exists. life without the hope of a loving God?

You must accept the Lord..........and in accepting your are accepted.......crap like that......I am all for religion for it's moral purpose but people please.........let's not get too literal about stories written by men. Most of the bible can be translated into whatever you want it to mean to fit your purpose or belief.

believe: 1) we are commanded and 2) we don't want you to go to hell. But what's wrong with letting us believe and have hope in something? Even if, let's say, we died and found out we were wrong all along?

In my last question some people seemed to get the impression that soap didn't exist around the time that Moses wrote his books.

Did God not know that soap already existed or did Satan invent soap?

The atheists will say of course we're not, we know he doesn't exist - but I mean anti the idea. Darwin didn't set out to disprove creationism, he just observed the facts and came up with a logical explanation that has been proven beyond any doubt. Fundamentalists can come up with as many stories of his deathbed conversion as they like but it wouldnt matter - we don't accept arguments from authority - someone else would have figured out evolution and published at roughly the same time. It was time for humans to discover evolution.

The ideas we use against religion are nothing more than the ideas a Christian would use buying a used car - would you take it on faith that it was everything the dealer said? Would you want to see for yourself instead? Why only use logic and reason in some parts of your life. You don't need religion to be moral.
