If you say that they should be urged to convert , does this not contravene the basic human right that "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion".

In a previous question, most christians said that atheists should not have less rights than christians.

Why then, should we not have the right quoted above

(aimed only at those who believe that atheists should be subject to conversion attempts)

Atheists...and their Christian and other world belief counterparts, should all be left in peace to believe as they choose. We in the USA all have the same rights...re: the first amendment to the Constitution.

I am Christian and I agree with you. I would not want my religious freedom restricted either. Also I believe that Jesus is the Prince of Peace and arguing with people or insulting them hardly promotes peace. Most people if they change their ideology will do so based on life experience, not because of some stupid debate. I feel that the best way for me to promote my beliefs is to live by them and let others judge the results. Not only is it disrespectful of another person's freedoms to attack their beliefs, it also makes people oppose us. That is the exact opposite of spreading the Gospel because instead no one wants to know anything about it. Fortunately not all of us are uneducated intolerant fundamentalists.

When I meet someone that is an avowed atheist I will try to be an example to them of what a Christian is.
I will when the opportunity presents itself share the Gospel with them. But I always do so in a respect full manner.
As I have said before, it may be that I don't agree with your choice, I do however defend your right to make it.
Your decision is between you and GOD, not you and me.

Atheists know what Christians believe, but despite all our good intentions, they continue to deny God.There comes a point when Christians have to move on and let the atheists in God's capable hands.

As a Christian I am responsible to carry out the Great Commission. This is to reach, teach, and baptize those who are lost. I am told to do so in Matthew 28:18-20. These were probably the last words of Jesus Christ while HE was on Earth. This overrides any rights that anyone should have.

Just leave then alone. If they are wrong they will find out when they die. I wish Christians would just leave non-Christians alone. If they want to convert I am sure they will ask you but the more you push someone the more they pull back.

hmm, the way I see it, we should all assume that others are much too stupid to figure out things on their own, so we should try to brow beat them into seeing things our own way.

Why restrict this to Religion. I think we should also make certain that we harrass everyone that feels and believes differently. No matter what it is. I should make certain I give everyone hell because they don't support the sports teams I do, and those who don't like Panang Curry, and those who think boxers are better than briefs!

I mean, it they were actually not stupid, then they would have already seen the wisdom of my choices.

What people believe is their own business.

Any attempt to See your beliefs as somehow superior to or more correct than the beliefs of someone else is arrogance not faith.

You have every right to those things you cite. When you come to a religion site, however, you have no right to complain if you hear about religion.

I would like to exercise those same rights, so that you do not come here to insult me and mock God.

You, sir or madam, are a hypocrite!
