If Jesus said that if we confess our sins to God then he would forgive us of all our sins?

Does this also refer to the thing in the Bible about blaspeming against the Holy spirit that is a sin that cannot be forgiven I am confused ? please help

Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit means the total rejection of the Holy Spirits work in your life (now and forever) and the total rejection (now and forever)of the work of Christ for your life.

Therefore you could not Blashpheme and come to God asking forgiveness at the same time. It would be like saying your going to use the gift and reject the gift at the same time.

What is a sin , after all ? A sin is a thought, act or deed which violates the cosmic law ' Live and let live' even in the slighest. obviousely a sin for preempting a bigger sin is not a sin at all. Hence the concept of sin is relative, relative to time and space, relative to individual and temperament, relative to attitude or thought you know how. But one thing is certain . A sin is known by disapproval of one's own inner voice. No one can get away from onself, nor from the Supreme. Both the soul and the Supreme are aware of every thought or action. The second step is repentance and the ultimate step is paying for it. It has to be paid for, if you believe in cause and effect. Better pay for it readily, else it would be compulsion and more painful. This is a fairly general view. You know that every faith or religion has broadly two classes of followers, extremeists and moderates. The extremists believe in penance and the moderates believe in confession and repentance. Extremists take the view ' laws are same for one and all' but moderates believe ' The Supreme soul is magnanimous and shall forgive' . It is only a small favour by the 'Above all' however big it may be for us. That does not mean that you do whatever yoou wish and wash yourself at the confession room. We must know ourselves. If we ask for forgiveness, we understand that we too have to forgive. An eye for an eye is definitely not the universal order. Repentance and self cleansing of soul is important. Then only we come to know what elements we are made up of. This is spiritual progress. When one forgives, one understands thatr one has passed through the stage the other one is in; and the other one shall come to one's stage in due course. God is our eternal abode. We come from Him and go into Him. Confession is the first stage in the path of knowledge and devotion which ultimately leads us there. Now a logical circle is encountered. If every act or deed of ours is His, then what is the need of repentance or penance or any such thing ? No. A certain degree of freedom is given to us, for role playing, for learning and for improving. So everything is amenable there, nothing matters inside God. But should we abandon our courtesy ? Certainly not.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit means that your denouncing the truth (the Holy Spirit being the Spirit of Truth). In other words you are completely denying everything from God's existence to Biblical truth because one refuses to be open minded. This type of person is never seeking forgiveness, therefore it is a sin that can't be forgiven. There is only one sin that will not be forgiven, & that is blaspeming the Holy Ghost, it will not be forgiven in this world nor the one to come. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin. When we mess up we feel guilty and we know it. You will see people here in Yahoo Answers trying everything they can to make themselves ignore the guilt and conviction of the Holy Spirit. (If they really didn't believe, they would be anywhere but here.) Don H above is a perfect example of this. If they continue to resist the Holy Spirit and build up a tolerance to him then he will go away. When that happens there is no more hope. If you can even hate GOD then there is still hope. if you really are a christian....you would never blaspheme the holy spirit.....if you are not and you blaspheme the holy spirit i think He would forgive you if you turn to Him cuz u repented already....and you became a christian....and u would never do it again......everything is forgiven as long as you are sincere.....He is the most loving God

The first thing that someone should be considering is whether the idea of sin is actually real.

If God is supposed to be perfect how could She have made anything or anyone that wasn't perfect.
Think about it. The idea of sin assumes certain things about God that seem highly unlikely.

First it assumes a God who is too incompetent to organize a simple educational field excursion and figure out a way to get all of the students home safely.

How likely is this that God would not be smart enough to come up with a plan for our salvation that is going to work 100 percent of the time?

It also assumes that God must have created us imperfect if we are sinners.

One might assume that God would be able to create someone perfect each and every time if he chose to. Assuming God is capable of this, then it follows logically that we must be perfect creations if we are actually creations of this perfect God.

Unless of course you are saying that God chose to create us imperfect.

If God created us imperfect then anything that may go wrong is Gods fault, not ours. This seems a bit illogical at best so I think that we need to assume that What God creates would have to be perfect.

If this is the case and Gods creations are perfect, then nothing that we can do could change what God created perfect and make it imperfect unless we think that we are more powerful than God is.

How likely is it that we the creation could be more powerful than the creator. I personally find this idea somewhat amusing, and a bit absurd.

Religion tells us that God is perfect. If this is true then it could hardly be logically for Gods creations to be considered to be anything less than perfect.

If this is the case and we are perfect creations of a perfect God then Nothing that we can ever do could possibly change this perfection that God willed, unless we were so powerful that our choices could override and change the will of God.

How likely is that????
