Man is the name of the being. It is used interchangeably for both genders. The Bible states that when God created man, "male and female He created them"
The individuals, man (male human) and women (female human)are not initially religious terms.
And we don't specifically ask - or at least we shouldn't ask - why there are still monkeys. But that's another long question and answer.

I think you are trying to stir it up again Jim, anyway how could anything as beautiful as Women come from Apes? even if I was not a believer in Christ, this alone would be enough for me to totally discount evolution!!
