transported their victims to the New World in slave ships with names such as "Mercy" and "Jesus," where they were bought by Christians, both Catholic and Protestant. Organized Christianity was not silent on this horror: it actively encouraged it and engaged in it. From the friars who enslaved Native Americans in the Southwest and Mexico to the Protestant preachers who defended slavery from the pulpit in Virginia, the Carolinas, and Georgia, the record of Christianity as regards slavery is quite shameful. While many abolitionists were Christians, they were a very small group, well hated by most of their fellow Christians.

The Christians who supported and engaged in slavery were amply supported by the Bible, in which slavery is accepted as a given, as simply a part of the social landscape.

complete power over everything. So in what sense can God sacrifice something? What does He give up? How can God be all knowing and at the same time not know what is going to happen? How can God become a man? ("God made flesh?")

There is no first hand proof that Jesus ever existed except from scraps of paper that became the New Testament and they were written at least 175 years after his death. Despite what Christians will claim, not one parchment of New Testament was written at the time of Jesus’ supposed life.

There are tons of records that still exist from that era. Even the records of the Jewish scribe Josephus.

Back in 2002 the world of archeology was excited because an ossuary box was found that was claimed to had once held the bones of Jesus' brother. That would have been the first record that proved Jesus was real. But the box was later proved to be a fake.

So is Jesus just a fictional creation to sell a new form of religion?

For example,
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArRm3YnPN54uGNBR22Cdi9rd7BR.?qid=20070211060743AAflZnp
in that question a lot of people attacked the asker saying "you don't know anythin about the bible" or something along these lines,

Now, this is a straw man arguement, isn't it?
Check out these logical fallacies,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Logical_fallacies

Rather than address the actual question, the religiouis persons (some of them not all) merely attack the person asking.

Why do they do that why not address the specific question? Is the position suggested by the question correct and there for not attacked, but since its "faith" the asker is attacked?

You should not. They were inspired by God but written by men. No man can contain perfection. It is not the glory of the words but the glory of the spirit that comes from the knowledge of the words.

In early 1950s when the northerners were first exposed to gambling, they took it like child to a candy. One day the pastor was councilling a lady who was too involved in bingo and made it clear she can only service one God. She understood made her choices. Now in the 50's $5,000.00 bingos were unheard of, but it was happening and all the people in surrounding communities assembled in one area for the luck of jack pot. It went on late Saturday night as there were no bingo dabbers then. And so the next morning the same lady came to church and was soon asleep as the pastor lead the harmonious music, until he could not remember one tune and said to his wife "it sounds like Psalms 22" with that the lady was still asleep and jumped to her feet and raise both hand and shouted "BINGO" and realize it was only a dream....

A Christian Boy Ponders His Future in America:
By!J.A.S.W.(c)2004-07
We each stand alone in a nation of many,
People on our streets begging for pennies.
We cannot see the person beside us in need,
Our people our too occupied with lust and greed.
Should the U.S. be protected by a God who is just,
If He can only find a few believers in the masses of us?
And what of our reluctance to claim Him as our God,
Although His commandments as a basis for our Laws?
This all is just too confusing for a little boy like me,
In school they teach me God isn't really what I need.
But when papaw takes me to Sunday School it is great,
There's no one bashing me, other kids with guns, or hate.
What will the world be like when I am a grown man,
Will the Atheists and Christians live in love hand in hand?
Honestly I doubt it from what they all do and say,
And I don't think it will get better in our future days.
I just hope that Jesus comes for me really, really soon,
Cause I'm afraid soon my Bible won't be allowed in my classroom.
Kids can read books in the liberary about homosexuality,
But I can't find any books there on things like Christianity.
I guess I just don't understand and maybe I am wrong,
But how can I be when everyone acts like I don't belong?
And according to my Bible ... they are who is Wrong!
