The bible and other texts of the major religions were always intended to be a substitute for real knowledge. They may record events which may or may not have occurred thousands of years ago, but it’s only been a relatively short time since they were mass produced. This time also coincided with a marked increase in printed knowledge like that of encyclopedias and scientific hypothesis.

In today’s world, religion and the internet aren’t exactly suited to each other. Sure there are online bibles but they’re really only a different form of the written text, whereas an online encyclopedia is radically different to its printed counterpart. The ability to follow links to learn the meaning of terms whilst one is reading means that learning potential is dramatically increased.

By its inherent nature, religion cannot counter the internet as it has countered so many of mankind’s attempts to progress away from it and as a result, religion must inevitably fall by the wayside.

Question for the day:

Should I add Chicken the the Eternal Plate of Seaffood that awaits my children in the after life? I tend to think that would be very yummy!!

Also, it has been asked of me many times what my official greeting is - it is; Waterloo To You!

Peace be with you my children.

In case you're unfamiliar, quick synopsis: Satan and God are talking. God points out how much Job loves him. Satan says that Job only loves God cause his life is so swell. God and Satan make a bet that if everything is taken away from Job, he won't love God anymore. So, God lets Satan kills Job's kids, take away all his stuff and makes him really ill. Job still worships god. He does ask god "why" and god replies with "who are you to ask me?"

In the end Job gets new kids, stuff and isn't sick any more.

What moral lesson does this story teach?

Many Christians adamantly suggest that there can be only one God - and that belief in more than one God is non-Christian. I am curious where this belief comes from. Is it misinterpratation of scripture?

These popes were killing people - in the name of Christ no less! I think its hypocritical to kill people who want to read the Bible for themselves.

Under Roe and Casey, abortion is legal, that is, its legal to terminate a homo-sapien organism with a lesser celluar mass.

Established law has "precedantial" value. In other words, wise legal minds need to consider what type of "Genies" this bottle may release in the future.

Consider that mind-spinning movement of genetics. We already have the ability to analyze DNA and predict certain traits or outcomes.

Now imagine a future, where un-protected humans (embryos) can be analyzed genetically. Remember, these organisms have almost no rights, with the exception that a stranger cant kill the fetuses, that against the law (the mother can). So because the under-developed human has no rights, the argument can be made that the non-human human can be genetically engineered by the mother. After all, she can terminate the non-human human right?

I have asked a number of questions here about the existence of God and/or the theory of evolution. One theme seems to stand out from many of the answers I have received. One person answered 'because you can't see the wind, do you question that it exists?', and another answered, 'if we are decended from apes, then who made the apes?', plus many other similar answers.
Isn't it plain to see how unintelligent these answers are, and how stunted their view of the world realy is? Darwins theory explains much more than our evolution from apes, yet many people who are deeply religious WILL not or CANNOT understand (or even read) what scientists spend their entire lives explaining for the benefit of the human race!
What hope is their for an educated debate here when so many 'believers', are unable to open their minds to the issues?

C'mon,

no one believes that people come back from the dead,
or that virgins have babies,
or people ascend up towards the sky,
or that you can turn water into wine,
or that if there was a god he would die to free us from sin

(what does that even mean? can someone just die and save people from sin? Wouldn't Jesus have died anyway? He was a human after all. It just doesn't make any sense...)

This list could go on for awhile, I just don't have the patience...

But all religions are full of crap, i just think that Chrisitianity takes the cake. How are people so gullable?
