I spent 50 years flirting with the authentic Catholic faith before I truly accepted it.

Send for my free Catholic Resource CD and let's compare faith journeys.

Growing up I was a true catholic, I believed in everything they stood for (I knew nothing else) but as I matured into an adult I started to question alot of there preachings and I decided to leave the catholic church and find my own path. Something was always missing, I met a man (not religious at all) married and had children and now I want them to have the same faith that I've had so I have returned (with my children) I still feel the church needs to make a few changes to keep up with society but I guess even without these I still feel more at home amongst these people then I did without them.
Follow your heart.

I was brought up Catholic. My parents went to the same Catholic church for 75 years. About 35 years ago I realized that they never taught the Bible, except maybe for a quick Daniel story or else if you want to count the "Eve ate the apple fairytale".
When I realized there was so much more to the Word than what was being taught, I spoke to one of the priests - he told me they are restricted to teaching specific parts of the Bible, and others they are not to teach. He felt the people wouldn't be able to grasp the deeper Biblical passages, anyway. This was so upsetting to me, that I felt as if I would vomit. I still went to services with my dad up until he died, but every time I walked into that church I just felt sick again - I walked up to the Alter, and looked everywhere, but couldn't find a Bible - only a Catholic quarterly, and thats what remained there the entire mass.
Oh, yeah there was a great big "show" Bible, but that is never opened. I kept wanting to scream at the priest and ask him if he understood that Jesus told Peter "feed my sheep", three times for emphasis in the Word. The people are starving to death for truth, and if they would provide the meat of Gods Word, those people and more will come to the trough.
Oh well, what do I know, huh?? I've studied in the manuscripts and the Biblical languages, etc. for the past 35 years. Just with the better personal relationship I have with the Lord, I couldn't ever go back and sit there sunday after sunday - I would learn absolutely nothing - God would bless me as much if I went to a good Baseball game. God calls churches that teach nothing, "Beth Aven". That means House of Nothing - or House of Vanity, if you prefer. He is simply not there. Those are Gods Words, not mine. I'm staying at home and continuing my studies.

.I did something similar.. I went back.. I prefer the Catholic Church. Not perfect, but my preference. Not as dogmatic as many other's I attended. I had two uncles who were jesuits too. I understand how you feel. Do you think everyone believes what the church teaches? I seriously doubt it.. That includes priests here in the US. I have friends who are adventists.. Nice people. I do like their attitude regarding vegetarian foods etc.. Do what makes you feel good. I think you'll be glad you did..

I left the Catholic Church several years ago. I am now an agnostic who believes in God. I don't see myself ever going back to a big scam....or to any other religion....which are all fabrications of ignorant men. God never endorsed any religion, wrote any book, or spoke to anybody.

There are tons of X-Catholics in my church including myself. Most I know after experiencing a Christian church would never go back. Catholicism is too earthly.

Since I play trumpet, The musical director calls me up to ask me to play sometimes for special masses (like christmas and easter) if she's having difficulty finding other players. I do it solely for the love of music.
