I am an Atheist
Good things
1. No more fearing a Celestial father figure who's out to get me.
2. No more guilt about natural impulses we all have.
3. Empowerment, no more feeling like I'm at the whim of a childish, jealous irrational god. If I want something I better work my *** off for it.
4. No more Judging ppl as being right or wrong or evil or good.
We just are, no one has more truth than the next. Live your life and I will live mine to the best of my capabilities.
5. I am responsible for myself, me and no one else.
This is my happy life without "the Christian God"

What I like best about being an Ásatrúar? That we are polytheistic. That is, we believe in a number of deities, including Goddesses as well as Gods. That we do not accept the idea of "original sin", the notion that we are tainted from birth and intrinsically bad, as does Christianity. Thus, we do not need "saving".

Because it gives me a fulfillment in life that no other religion ever could do. Being connected to the Gods who are as close to you as bloodkin, following a Lore that teaches you to be strong and independent, honoring your ancestors and the heroes of before, that is Asatru for me.

It gives me strength in daily life, it gives me hope that there are actually Gods that care, and that stand with you if times are hard.
Asatru is the only religion that doesn't clash with the modern day scientific view on the world, it views the world as it is, a natural place, with many Gods.

I like being Asatru because it rewards people who are academically-inclined. Really and pervasively, not just in theory.

I like being Asatru because its ethos match mine. I can be a reasonably good example of an Asatruer; I would never be anything but a marginal, footnoted, troublemaking member of any other religion. I like hanging around with people who think that an oath is an oath, for example.

I like being Asatru because it validates my inclination to bonk irritating people on the head with a Big (Rhetorical) Hammer. I am blunt; in Asatru, blunt is a good thing. "Frith" and "cooperation" are much more resonant values for me than "niceness" or "harmony".

I like Asatru because it is not a One Way kind of religion. I can disagree strongly with other Asatruars about all sorts of things and we can still be in the same religion together just fine. And I don't have to worry about sorting out all the people outside of Asatru, either.

I am a Pantheist/Buddhist. Both "religions" approach perception and the natural world with a critical mind. I like that. I am also a realist. After much debate with myself and others I have concluded that the Universe has always existed in some for or another and that we have Evolved from it. Death is the end. I am cool with that! It makes me appreciate every day of life that much more.

Have fun and spread love!

The good thing about being Christian is that I'm not going to burn for eternity in Hell, I'm being blessed everyday, and it gives me inspiration to live until my death were I will be welcomed into the Holy Kingdom of Heaven by The Holy Father himself.

The best thing about being an atheist is not having to be a Christian.

We live in a beautiful, interesting world, and we are capable of some really magnificent things.
Theist or atheist, that's pretty great.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.. Bottom line. You don't have to be a believer to follow that principle. Treat others with respect, regardless of race, size, gender, sexual orientation. We all have that right.

The fact that I can demonstrate the truth of everything in which I believe, to anyone who is interested in understanding such. No religious person can do so.
