I was raised (actually forced) Catholic growing up, but now for various reasons have nothing to do with the religion, mostly because I do not agree with or believe in everything I was taught. Just out of curiosity, what are your religion's views on the following:

Mary being a virgin when Jesus was conceived
Mary staying a virgin all her life (and her husband putting up with that)
Mary floating up (forgot what the catholics called it) into Heaven
The whole crucifixion/ressurection thing
Those little wafers becoming "the body" of Christ

Anyone can answer, I just always wanted to know what other religions think of these things. If your religion does not do it or cover it at all, please also say so.

Help me understand, please. We have been granted free will, but in order to be accepted into the Kingdom of Heaven, we must use our free will to choose to relenquish our free will and live by the rules set forth by the bible? Is it just me, or does that seem a little contradictary? Don't get me wrong...I'm not attacking anyone or any group, I'm just curious about the opinions on this.

Has your belief or disbelief in the innate worth of every human being been colored more by your faith/philosophy or your life experiences?

1. Imagine a world where 90% of the population believes the tooth fairy exist

2. Imagine millions of people believing a book that says you're a fool for not believing the tooth fairy exist

3. Imagine people in the streets saying, "get saved before it's too late. The tooth fairy's coming back"

4. Imagine a history of millions of people getting slaughtered in the name of the tooth fairy.

5. Imagine people debating about which tooth fairy's book is true

6. Imagine you telling people that the top scientists dont believe the tooth fairy exist trying to wake them up

7. Imagine people saying "I know the tooth fairy exist because I can feel her in my teeth"

8 Imagine people saying "somone hit me and my teeth didn't fall out. The tooth fairy saved my teeth.

9. Imagine people saying "even though you dont believe the tooth fairy's real, she still loves you"

10. Imagine you saying "These people have to be crazy"

THAT'S REALLY WHAT IT'S LIKE BEING AN ATHEIS

By this i mean, can't there be times for other things. I find that with christians, its all about god. I mean All about god. I believe and love god with all of my heart but like watching other programs on tv other than bible stories. I also like lots of different movies just not christian music? Someone please. I think i need a christian site to go on because no one in this neck of the woods is listening to me. I walk away without an answer to my question. I end up feeling guilty and i don't think thats right.

It seems that you have this book and not much else is important, especially self-awareness, scientific research and open-mindedness.

What "denomination" do you consider yourself? Please explain the very very basic core of your denomination. (What makes it unique from others)

Personally - I am non-denominational - this means I do not associate with any specific denomination, I mearly rely on God, and the Bible. I do not believe in separate "doctrines" such as "Once saved always saved", "Calvinism", "The Rapture" or "Baptism of the Dead".

Thanks everyone for answering! I am very curious to see your answers! I would like to know how each person views themselves and their Christian belief/denomination.

Were you taught your morals, or have you always had them?

It seems to me that morality is subject to cultural influences, but at it's core is innate.

First of all, I am looking for a few verses for my Bible Class Project. It is called the Rainbpw Promise. I have to find a promise verse made to the people of today AND matches a color. For instance happiness would be yellow and growth would be green.

The first verse is a specific verse. It is the one that promises you will grow in the Lord if you read your Bible and pray everyday.

The next few verses have specific requirements but are quite confusing.

I just need verses which are promises to the people of today referring tot he colors:
BLUE
PURPLE
PINK

Thank you!!!!

because i seriously doubt god made us and gave us a free will to do whatever, and then has certain rules he wants us to find out and abide by (even with no proof of gods existence), and then after we die we have to face a judgement on rules we weren't even sure about. if it is real, it sounds like a really sick joke, and shame on god if that is the case. thats not very nice of god to do that to people.

There is no proof that the earth was not created by a Hibaurhga. There is no proof that Hibaurhga did not intelligently design humans. So why do you deny that Hibaurhga did so, when there is clearly no proof that She did not?
