Do they not know how to look up "already asked questions"? Usually they include lots of personal attacks and assumptions in this part of their question, asking if we are all on welfare, lazy or just wife-beaters. Don't you find it puzzling?

God is presumably all-powerful -- why did he have to use collective punishment? He hadn't learned the proper use of individual punishment? Can you think about all the innocent life that was lost?

Parable style! I'm cribbing from how Jesus told stories!

Ok, I'm a loving mommy and I create for my two innocent children a Perfect Kitchen. In that kitchen, I place a jar of poisoned cookies! As is that weren't enough, I allow into my kitchen the Most Evil Being Ever. The Evil Being tempts my youngest into eating a cookie, and that child talks the other one into it. Both children die.

Obviously, this is intended to parallell the bible story. But in the case of the bible, Adam and Eve were even MORE innocent than children (since they had no "sin nature")

My question is, who would a HUMAN court blame for the deaths of my children? The innocent kids? The Evil Being who was acting according to it's nature? Or the mommy? (If you choose "mommy" can you explain why then God isn't liable for orignal sin?)

Thanks

If we all had to pay the price for a distant relative who commited a crime every single one of us would be in prison today, so why do people have to pay the price of something commited by someone who we never knew and have nothing to do with? No fricken scripture please give me an answer using YOUR OWN brain thanks.

why did god put the tree of knowledge in the garden, expect us not to touch it if we didnt know right from wrong to begin with?

Genesis 3:5
5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

so we had no prior knowledge of good and evil, why were we punished for our ignorance when god had full knowledge what we would do before we did it and that we didnt know right from wrong anyway?

I see a lot of bickering about whether God does or doesn't exist, but what I don't see is someone who treats the problem in a manner that bespeaks a rational experimental setup, if only in the realm of philosophical or thought experiment. My question is : what criteria does an entity or phenomenon have to satisfy in order to qualify as being "God," and what criteria eliminates a being or entity as being "God?" I am interested in method more than ideology and how one could possibly go about taking the FIRST STEPS in tackling the sticky problem of "does God exist?" I'd be interested to hear from people with widely varying viewpoints and religious or philosophical beliefs, as long as the answers are reasonable and not based solely on emotional appeal or exclusionary religious dogma. Thanks for your answers!

We all know that there is no innate shame at nudity. People of many cultures are quite comfortable nude.

What is the real thing that Adam and eve were ashamed of?

In a court of law a event is considered a fact if indeed there are two witness of more. In the bible we see overlapping witnesses from the first book of the bible to the last book of the bible. Example aberham then issac then jocob there lives over lapped and they all witnessed about things they saw and lived thru. This patterns preveals thru out the bible.
In the quran we do not see this pattern Muhammad is not fortold by anyone before he came and he does not line up with any prophets words, actually he teach directly agaist much of what prophets had taught. I ahve heard many of you claim he was fortold in the bible and then also denounce the bible as being changed yeat it has never been changed as time and history have prove it over and over. As truth and as complete and as never being changed.
So my question is how do you know this is a holy book from a holy prophet. As he does not hold the truths of the prophets. And teaches against the prophets before him.

A catholic asked recently about how could other churches say they value marriage when only catholic church has an annulment process.

First, it blows my mind to think that someone could ask, in apparent honesty, "Since we have a process of undoing a marriage and you do not, how can you say you value marriage?"

Second, and the point of this question, is how can anyone annul a marriage for any reason other than 'fornication'?

I'll let the answerer define 'fornication'. Most bible scholars I read say it is a broad term related to sexual impurity and would apply to adultery as well as other sexual sins. I know from the bible that a Jew in the OT could divorce his wife for adultery and he could divorce her if he found that she wasn't a virgin before marriage.

One verse:

"But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery." Matt. 5:32

Here's my main question: If your answer is yes, God parted the Red Sea for the Hebrew folk -- why didn't he part the 17th Street Canal for the Black folk?
Or was it Lake Ponchtrain, I forget. Anyway you get my point.
Many, many Black folk suffered and perished. George Bush and God did nothing. But this particular question is about God. God did nothing. Cogent replies requested. Thank you.

ok with the claim that god is all powerful, meaning he can do anything.

(keep in mind god is loving and merciful)
if he can indeed do anything, then why, throughout the old testament, in instances where god could spare lives by doing a hundred of other options, did he instead decide to kill people?

example: god parts the red sea for moses, but encaves it in on their pursuers. instead why didnt god make a mile high wall seperating them? thus sparing the lives of moses's persuers and rescuing moses. what about the other hundreds of instances were he can spare life but decides to use bloodshed instead?

Its plain to see religion is responsible for an american president who looks forward to the rapture and by destroying life and starting wars probably believes will make the Lord come sooner. And its plain to see religion causes countless wars and terrorism in the middle east not to mention 9/11. 100 years from now when the lord still hasnt come and if we havent started a nuclear holocost,
will we give up our beliefs in a man in the sky and care about one another or will we end up destroying it all.

"But though we,or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you,let him be accursed".Galatians 1:8
"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel;for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.Therfore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness;whose end shall be according to their works" 2 Corinthians 11:13-15.
Paul speaks of himself and even an angel from heaven, that even they were not to change the gospel. So who gave you the authority to change the word of God ? When you can't even live what has been written. And if your going to tell me the church has the authority, which of you two are right ?
