Here's my main question: If your answer is yes, God parted the Red Sea for the Hebrew folk -- why didn't he part the 17th Street Canal for the Black folk?
Or was it Lake Ponchtrain, I forget. Anyway you get my point.
Many, many Black folk suffered and perished. George Bush and God did nothing. But this particular question is about God. God did nothing. Cogent replies requested. Thank you.

No, it never happened.

There is not one shred or piece of historical evidence that the jews were ever in Egypt or enslaved there or that they escaped. Even the Egyptians never mention them and the Egyptians kept meticulous and detailed records of everything in their history.

There is also nothing in the desert they allegedly wandered through for 40 years. No bodies, no artifacts, no campfires, nothing at all. Older civilizations in nearby deserts left archaeological evidence and corroborative recorded history. There is no evidence that the Jews were in Egypt or even crossed the Red Sea outside of the bible. They were never there.

Hindsight is 20/20 and looking at this particular situation, I can say with no uncertainty that one was God's will while the other was not. Now if you ask me why, I will simply shrug my shoulders. God's plan is eternal, and we can not always understand it. I get the impression that you may be insinuating God to be a respecter of persons (white, black) but must I remind you that his people the "Hebrew Folk" were enslaved by Africans. White men do not have a monopoly on racism and slavery. These issues in fact do stem from a racial problem but it it has nothing to do with black and white it has to do with the human race. Remember, bad things happen to people all the time; it's not always about race.

Were the residents of New Orleans slaves to the city? Were they forced to remain there for generations upon generations? The Hebrew people were enslaved by the Egyptians, who had weapons to keep the Hebrews in submission. When the National Geographic magazine wrote a major story on the perils of living in New Orleans specifically because it was subject to flooding about a year before Katrina occured, the residents of New Orleans, having been offered a complete public education, could have read that information and could have made a choice to take action at that point. They had about a year to decide whether they wanted to move out of the city or stay.
EDIT:
The article (HIGHLY informative) was written in October of 2004.

So your question basically is, why does God allow bad things to happen to innocent people?
No one can really answer this, because "God works in mysterious ways." We can't really know or comprehend the reasoning of an omnipotent being.
One possible answer is that when God granted us free will, he granted us myriad opportunities to exercise that will, and left us to learn the lesson that our free will and our actions have consequences for others. (ie, George Bush and his delegates had the oppotunity to intervene herocially for New Orleans, and they hesitated, and learned the catastrophic results of their hesitiation.)
God intervened for Moses at the Red Sea to provide a miracle to inspire future generations with a miracle, but has probably decided that as humanity grows older and has the benefit of learning from history, humanity needs fewer supernatural miracles and more opportunities to create their own miracles and good works.

Where in the Bible does it say that the blacks in New Orleans are God's chosen people?
God did send them warnings. There was an evacuation plan already enacted-with all the necessary resources to implement it. They turned it down-what do you expect.
When God parted the Red Sea- all the Jews got up off their butts and moved out.
Is that "cogent" enuff?

Have you asked GOD this question? How do you expect anyone to answer this. GOD does what HE does and no man can stay HIS hand. HE did all that HE did for the Hebrew Children because HE promised to deliver them. HE does things also to show us that we can have deliverance from what seem to be impossible odds.
Maybe you should not be so quick to look for things to be offended with GOD over but rather allow HIM to teach you about the things of GOD.

God made many appearances in New Orleans during and after the storm.
Your eyes couldn't see Him but those whose spirits are sensitive to His presence saw Him in the plates of food, the arms of the rescuers and in the spirit of unselfishness of their fellow Americans.
