If you deny this, you have to be crazy

Religion
Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.

Note: I got this from the standard dictionary

All religion is the result of man's fear of death and his inability to explain his existence.
Because of this, it's easy to dupe people into believing you have an inside track to all things spiritual, and can promise them absurd things like heaven and hell, angels and devils, if only they will swear a lifetime allegiance...and oh, by the way 15% of their money (the vatican has untold trillions).

The history of all religion has been bloody from it's onset right up until this moment. The sunnis are committing murders, tortures, and horrors in the name of religion, as we speak. The twin towers were hit in the name of religion.
Christianity has one of the bloodiest histories...the crusades, where they tortured and murdered all who weren't Christians. Hitler was a catholic.

Doesnt taking sides on religion cause agression and a feeling superiority over other religions. Each religion is usually of the same people, so wouldnt that encourage racism as well? Why is it that each religion is imaged after the people who created it and not created in the image of all people?

I asked this before but got no good Christian answers.

Can you make yourself believe that there is a giant red hippo on my lap? Please try now and let me know if you are successful. I am completely serious. I say believe in that you ACTUALLY believe it - in the same way you believe in god. I don't mean that you say you believe it. I mean that you DO believe it.

If you cannot, then how do you expect me to choose to believe in god when I currently do not?

Some children these days are forced to go to church and learn about the bible and are told it is all complete fact. And that science is all complete lies and to ignore it at all cost if it disrupts your religion. This is told to someone that instantly beleives in the tooth fairy easter bunny santa clause so on. Children will beleive in anything you tell them cause they are preprogrammed to so they dont go jumping off bridges and so on. I think it is child abuse to teach a kid that he must live his life this way or he is going to hell and scare the living **** out of him. Even if you are christian muslim or jew i think you can agree with this because if your religion is the true one. Wouldnt you want people beleiving in your religion to actually beleive in it and not just programmed to be ignorant of everything outside it. I was raised this way and actually taught all these things. And it drastically limited my learning. How can this abuse of children be stoped.

When you as far as giving speeches in support of political canidates and also having ballot boxes in places of worship. This far crosses the line between church and state. As well as the netrulity imposed on non profit organzations which claim tax exmpetion status.

I mean, does it not seem odd to you Christians that you have 0% tangibility, 0% evidence, 0% proof of your beliefs? It seems odd to me that anyone would believe in something 100%, yet have 0% to base it on. Doesn't that seem a little scarry, if not a bit sick, to anyone else?

And why is it that Christians can't say HOW they believe in their faith, only that they can and do. Seems to me that all Christians only believe for the simple fact that they, when they were children, were TOLD to believe. And so they did. No tangibility, evidence, proof, yet 100% belief. Man, that is so scarry it blows my mind.

Come to the light of Atheism, where we at least have tangibility, evidence and proof.

God knows all the languages in heaven & earth, so I believe that Gods language is all languages combined without the corruption. And in the future, we who go to heaven will also have one language that is all languages combined without the corruption.

Please do not be vague. Please tell me exactly what goes on with regard to physical feelings and mental states. Do you feel something in your body? Do you hear or see something? Is it a feeling like sombody is next to you? Is it simply knowledge in the same way you know orange juice is made of oranges?

Again please be specific and speak in non-religious terms.

How many know the difference between a scientific theory and a non-scientific, general theory?

Does one half of the US honestly not know the definition/meaning of scientific theory? Our education system has failed miserably if this is so.

I am almost 21 and my husband and I have a 10 month old daughter. He is in the Army and we just moved from Iowa to Washington after he completed his basic training. I miss my family a lot and we have marital problems. He is very immature and does not help around the house and isn't very involved with our daughter. We just got married July 06. I get pretty depressed some days, although I don't let that affect my perfomance as a parent and I don't act depressed. I'm not very religious, I was a laid-back christian when I was growing up but stopped going to church when I was a pre-teen. He will be going to Iraq in May, and I will then return to Iowa to be with my family. But right now I just feel like I really need the kinds of things that going to church can give someone. I need the positivity of the people there, I need good people I can talk to, and I need hope. I think this might make my husband angry with me, but it's something I can't stop thinking about. What should I do?
