I think both groups believe this because their holy scriptures are in that language. The Torah is supposed to be from God, and the Quran is word for word from God.

Because supposedly (and I don't know for sure cause I'm not Muslim), when one reads/listens to the Qu'ran it has a very peaceful and hypnotic feeling to it. It is said that the language in the Qu'ran is perfect Arabic. Therefore just reading it convicts some people that it is from God. Personally I think Hebrew is God's language, but I might get killed for saying that....

The Muslim god Allah is not capable of keeping his word pure he has to keep writing the same scriptures overt and over and now he is angry so he tells them to keep his scripture pure by keeping it to themselves because he isn't going to continue sending scripture...I know this sounds foolish but It is their faith every word of God becomes corrupt and God tolerated it for thousands of years and is somehow powerless to stop it. So now God only speaks Arabic and anyone who chooses to know God without corrupt scripture needs to learn Arabic.
