It should be stopped, because parents are forcing beliefs on their children that may or may not be true. If I teach my child that our pet bunny is a lagomorph, that's a fact. If I take my kid to church and he is taught that "Jesus loves the little bunnies", that is highly questionable.
"My best advice to anyone who wants to raise a happy, mentally healthy child is: Keep him or her as far away from a church as you can."

>>>Some children these days are forced to go to church and learn about the bible and are told it is all complete fact.
There are a few fundamentalist church cults that do this, but you would be hard pressed to show me a main-line Protestant church that takes the whole bible as “all complete fact”. An allegory or metaphor are not facts, but literary devices, which the bible is full of.
>>>And that science is all complete lies and to ignore it at all cost if it disrupts your religion.
This is just plain hate speech, and extremely dumb.

>>>This is told to someone that instantly beleives in the tooth fairy easter bunny santa clause so on.
>>>We know these things are not true, but we know they represent goodness, and children need fantasies to a certain extent. You must have been spiritually abused as a child.
>>>Children will beleive in anything you tell them cause they are preprogrammed to so they dont go jumping off bridges and so on.
I wouldn’t call harmless fantasies “pre-programming”.
>>>I think it is child abuse to teach a kid that he must live his life this way or he is going to hell and scare the living **** out of him.
I agree. That’s not Christianity. You are seriously misinformed or poisoned by certain flavors of Protestantism.
>>>Even if you are chirtian muslim or jew i think you can agree with this because if your religion is the true one. Wouldnt you want people beleiving in your religion to actually beleive in it and not just programmed to be ignorant of everything outside it. I was raised this way and actually taught all these things. And it drastically limited my learning. How can this abuse of children be stoped.
True faith is not programming. True faith appeals to reason*. I hope you come to terms with the spiritual abuse you had to endure.

Excellent question, though I do not have an answer for you. I believe that having children should be a priviledge that is earned. You have to have a license to drive, own a dog or catch a fish...but any idiot with functioning genitalia can be a parent. You have to have good credit and a good job to buy a house or car, but any trailer trash on the planet can procreate. I wish that you had to have an IQ of at least 125, a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, a steady job with a household income of at least 50,000 a yr and have taken parenting classes for at least a year in order to be approved to have children. Indoctrination into any religion should be illegal. Sounds harsh, but the world would be a better place.

Why is it abuse to teach your child about God? Didn't you believe in Santa, the easter bunny and the tooth fairy and don't tell me you didn't? Let the children be children and don't take something away from them, it is make believe so what is wrong with that God Bless You

I agree with you in so many ways its not funny. Personally I think teaching a child religion is a form of MAJOR child abuse. Just because YOU believe it, does not give you the right to cram those beliefs into a child.

It's legal if they are one of those workers in a forgein nation which received a middle class American job. It's funny how one's sense of morality is ignored when they reap the benifets of not acknowledging the obvious.

I think it is a bit silly, but abuse, I think not.
If you see *real* child abuse victims I'm sure you will clearly see that it's not abuse.
Oh & if you want an education, you have work for it, not blame others for your lack of it. & look at the bright side at least you know what an education is, which many other people do not.

Can't take the chance that the child may grow up to be an atheist, or a person who questions religious belief. Need to get them thouroughly indoctrinated before they have a chance to think for themselves. Thats why.

You said it yourself: child abuse still exists because religion still exists. Whether the abuse is mental, emotional, physical or sexual, religion still does it and makes excuses to those in their cults.
