Religion
Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.

Note: I got this from the standard dictionary

All religion is the result of man's fear of death and his inability to explain his existence.
Because of this, it's easy to dupe people into believing you have an inside track to all things spiritual, and can promise them absurd things like heaven and hell, angels and devils, if only they will swear a lifetime allegiance...and oh, by the way 15% of their money (the vatican has untold trillions).

The history of all religion has been bloody from it's onset right up until this moment. The sunnis are committing murders, tortures, and horrors in the name of religion, as we speak. The twin towers were hit in the name of religion.
Christianity has one of the bloodiest histories...the crusades, where they tortured and murdered all who weren't Christians. Hitler was a catholic.

Religion
RELIGION, n. relij'on. [L. religio, from religo, to bind anew; re and ligo, to bind. This word seems originally to have signified an oath or vow to the gods, or the obligation of such an oath or vow, which was held very sacred by the Romans.]

1. Religion, in its most comprehensive sense, includes a belief in the being and perfections of God, in the revelation of his will to man, in man's obligation to obey his commands, in a state of reward and punishment, and in man's accountableness to God; and also true godliness or piety of life, with the practice of all moral duties. It therefore comprehends theology, as a system of doctrines or principles, as well as practical piety; for the practice of moral duties without a belief in a divine lawgiver, and without reference to his will or commands, is not religion.

2. Religion, as distinct from theology, is godliness or real piety in practice, consisting in the performance of all known duties to God and our fellow men, in obedience to divine command, or from love to God and his law. James 1.

3. Religion, as distinct from virtue, or morality, consists in the performance of the duties we owe directly to God, from a principle of obedience to his will. Hence we often speak of religion and virtue, as different branches of one system, or the duties of the first and second tables of the law.

Let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion.

4. Any system of faith and worship. In this sense, religion comprehends the belief and worship of pagans and Mohammedans, as well as of christians; any religion consisting in the belief of a superior power or powers governing the world, and in the worship of such power or powers. Thus we speak of the religion of the Turks, of the Hindoos, of the Indians, &c. as well as of the christian religion. We speak of false religion, as well as of true religion.

5. The rites of religion; in the plural.

faith isn't the international's best project, so i might want to assert pretend. in reality, faith isn't a project at inquisitive about maximum folk. i do not learn about you, yet contained in the basically accurate three hundred and sixty 5 days I honestly have not been attacked once by way of Neanderthal nuns, Islamic extremists, Hindu hatemongers, Zoroastrian zealots, Buddhist bullies, or Telaxian terrorists. i'm particular every person can come across hassle-free techniques to be comfortable with the very shown reality that there is spirituality contained in the international: for because it extremely does you extremely little damage, and could be there no matter if you desire for it to be or no longer, why no longer relax, grab a baguette, and mutter nonchalantly, "C'est l. a. vie!" An afterthought: what if I were to reveal screen that purges and pogroms contained in the formally atheist communist international locations of the twentieth century took more effective life - in that one century on my own - than all religious wars on account that prehistory practice? the international's best project is probable honestly climate change. Human market has probable contributed to climate change in an significant way and we could attend to it urgently. yet any attempt to tie faith in as an significant climate concern might want to be extremely tenuous at suitable, and disingenuously determined over-achieving at worst.

The people who led the crusades weren't real Christians. If anything at all they were just power-hungry catholics.

Christianity is not a result of fear, it is a result of God reaching down to us with no intervention on our behalf and saving our souls ... out of love.

Catholism is a wonderful example of men corrupting religion. GOD CANNOT BE CHANGED. THE WORD IS GOD; THE WORD CANNOT BE CHANGED.

i.e. If you change the bible, it's not the bible.

Anyone can claim to be a part of a religion, but true Christianity is having a relationship with God, who is Jesus. Hitler obviously didn't, and he's obviously burning in hell. I have friends that are 'Jews' but they drink and sin (not following the laws of Judaism) all the time

Religion is nothing compared to knowing Christ personally... Not knowing about him.

People give religion a bad name, God doesn't.

I agree with half of your statement. Men corrupting religion is one of the world's biggest problems. God is the only solution, and God is Jesus.

Have you ever researched the possibilities that mathmaticians have calculated of the 1000+ biblical prophecies made by men through God that have come true, including 109 about Jesus' life?

those 109 alone were this

1 to 1 with 117 zeros.

It's something that can't be taken away. Everyone one has a religion. Even Atheists have a religion b/c they have to believe that there is in no god. there is no proof that there is not a God. that's why we should find out which religion is right. And yes, I do agree the religions give a whole lot of trouble. But I think the biggest problem in this world is our human nature. True or False? We just can't escape religion... it will always exist. The real question is which religion is right.

Is your question "Is religion one of the world's biggest problems"?

This is essentially unanswerable since there is no scale of biggest problems. For many - especially those without food - hunger is the world's biggest problem. To Doctors in Africa it may be sickness and disease.

Your assessment is correct that Catholicism is one religion with a bloody history. You should note, however, that while Hitler was born to Roman Catholic parents, he wasn't a Catholic.

I f they weren't they would study the bible, god's only true word. Plus think about it. who would spend 1600 years to write up a book about lots of different qualities of god? god himself and the help of ppl.

The Crusades began when the Muslims tried to push their way into Europe by way of the sword. If it wasn't for the Crusades, much of Europe would be a giant toilet bowl.

Most religions don't teach to kill. A person makes that decision on his own....unless of course you are a Muslim, then you are taught to kill anyone who believes different than you.

Religion is just an aspect of the human psyche, people created religion, religion is neither good nor bad, people are good or bad.

Sorry, I don't agree. I am not looking to gain anything from anyone else by my faith. Neither do my fellow Christians that I associate with. We support each other in all things.
