I seriously considering Greek Orthodoxy because I love the liturgy and traditions. I'm currently a Protestant. This is a tough move because I still love Reformation thought and traditions. I just may love the Church of Greece more. Any thoughts? Any personal experiences? Any advice?

It just seems to me that he is against homosexuality, but does that mean they can't go to heaven? I mean, premarital sex is supposed to be a mortal sin so that means that like 90% of the world will never get into heaven. But people dog on gays more than ho-ey people. Don't you think as long as you believe in God you can go to heaven? That's what forgiveness is for. Forgiving homosexuality, promiscuity, gluttony, selfishness, lying, stealing, cheating- all those things? someone back me up here

To many it seems like it does not matter what you believe. The Bible does not teach that at all. Is it just something people want to think to make them feel good?

Because God has only one son. So its not like he can send sons out to all the planets out there. And if he did, does that mean Jesus got crucified by jews on all those planets? Or do Jews even exist on other planets?

Before you start asking, science predicts that there are at least ten other planets in our solar system capable of sustaining life. so common sense tells me that there's at least 1 other peep out there in the universe. and yes I am a Christian, I just have lots of unanswered questions.

My question is

Why are you here?

What is the purpose YOU are here asking and answering questions?

You have come so far now in the short history of life on planet Earth. The darkness is exposed and I see many see it. "satan" has become fat and sleepy and lost it's hold on you?
You are free to chose.
What will you do?

I posed this as part of an answer for another question, but I think it's worth posting here.

People call Evolution a theory.

Atomic theory is a theory as well. Science doesn't create "laws" today... we deal with theories.

So, Evolution shouldn't be believed because it is "just a theory"... Ok.

You're sitting next to a nuclear bomb. Atomic "theory" predicts that sufficient fissionable material, compressed, will cause a nuclear explosion. It's a "theory", and NOT a law.

You have a telephone beside you. It can dial only two numbers, and is pre-programmed. You can make only one call.

The first number is to a nuclear scientist who has a "theory" of how to stop the bomb.

The second number is to a famed and trusted "prayer warrior".

Who do you call?

I got into a bit of an argument with a friend. He's a creationists and I'm a Christian that believes in evolution.

He doesn't really think I'm a Christian because I believe in it. Is it scripturally accurate to say people who believe in evolution can't be Christian?

I need a copy of a poem about a man who dies and was a veteran. It told about his life and as he goes to heaven God says to him Good Job, my good and faithful servant. Or I need something to read or say at the funeral of a friend who was never baptized, yet lived a good life with a beautiful family.

Although the Bible condemns homosexuality (Lev. 18:22), the Bible also condemns tattoos (Lev. 19:28).

Some Christians say that they do not hate homosexuals due to personal bigotry, but that homosexual's actions are condemned in the Bible and are wrong. If they are truly basing their view of what is right and what is wrong on what the Bible states, why are people with tattoo's not told that they are wrong? Since getting a tattoo is clearly a choice, why are tattooed people not condemned and all the hatred only shown towards homosexuals?

He used a stone for his pillow, put on coarse clothes and ate rough food. His condiment was hunger. His lamp at night was the moon. His shade during the winter was just the expanse of earth eastward and westward. His fruits and flowers were only what grows from the earth for the cattle. He had no wife to allure him, nor any son to give grief, nor wealth to deviate (his attention), nor greed to disgrace him. His two feet were his conveyance and his two hands his servant.

I was told that it hold many gods inside and that all who worship it are told it's only one god. Just to understand it's meaning. I believe if an almight god that wants my worship also would like a friendship with people. And that he would share who he is. What do you think.

when we look at the sun we see the earth orbiting the sun, and the moon obriting the earth. if gravity were true, shouldnt our moon be orbiting the sun??? oh better yet, how come a planet way out in the distance such as neptune will orbit the sun, yet its moons will not orbit the sun??? something is wrong here, even at thise immense distances the moons will orbit the planets and not the sun, yet the suns "gravity" is strong enough supposedly to keep the planets in orbit.

why is it, only planets have orbits?? you could put a space shuttle in outter space and a astronaut will not orbit it. you could put the smallest pebbble into outter space and it will not orbit the space shuttle. why is this???? if gravity were true then surely such small objects would orbit larger ones, especially in space.

I wouldn't think that god would require anyone to give a percentage of your salary to anyone not in need. I've always heard growing up that church is in the heart. so why does one need to have this physical place of worship in order to be fulfilled?

I admit to having stolen this quote from Susan, but this is what Saint Valentine was all about

The story of Valentine's Day begins in the third century with an oppressive Roman emperor and a humble Christian Martyr. The emperor was Claudius II. The Christian was Valentinus.

Claudius had ordered all Romans to worship twelve gods, and had made it a crime punishable by death to associate with Christians. But Valentinus was dedicated to the ideals of Christ; not even the threat of death could keep him from practicing his beliefs. He was arrested and imprisoned.

During the last weeks of Valentinus's life a remarkable thing happened. Seeing that he was a man of learning, the jailer asked whether his daughter, Julia, might be brought to Valentinus for lessons. She had been blind since birth. Julia was a pretty young girl with a quick mind. Valentinus read stories of Rome's history to her. He described the world of nature to her. He taught her arithmetic and told her about God.

Armageddon...what are the universally agreed things that have to happen before the final battle. Would be cool to get interpretations of the scriptures, rather than just the verses themselves, though the verses would be cool too. Thanks.

If she didn't have more children then it's likely she remained a virgin her whole life, after all, she wouldn't have had sex for the fun of it (only to procreate).... and I'm sure Joseph was more than mildly annoyed. "I know our son is the savior, but come on!!!!!!!!!"

If she had children, they'd be Jesus' half-brothers and sisters... and are the descendents alive today? Most Likely
