Different theologies, old stereotypes. I'm a Protestant and I disagree strongly with Mormons but they're good people with good values.

(from an evangelical perspective) Because historically, Mormons believe that the original Christian church became apostate after the last apostle died (ceased to be "true"). And according to Joseph Smith (Mormon founder), the "so-called Christian church" that has since existed was and is an "abomination of Satan" (see Mormon historical docs for this fact). Hence, he began the "restored church of Jesus Christ" in the early 1800s (what we know as the Mormons now).
The Mormon's try to pass themselves off as "Christian". They claim to be the ONLY "true" church of Jesus Christ. Also, Mormon theology is quite different from Baptist or any other more orthodox Christian theology, even though Mormons use the same/similar words to describe what they believe, adding more confusing to the mix.
It's this seemingly "deceptive" approach of the truth about what they truly believe that Baptists (and other evangelicals) get all bent out of shape.

How could they, when the Baptists believed in the Bible and the Bible only while the Mormons believe in another Bible written by Joseph Smith which is contrarty to the teaching of the Bible which has been accepted for two thousand years as inspired by God.

Baptists do not want others making a mockery of Jesus. The Mormons say that Jesus was the brother of Lucifer who became Satan and that he is one of many Gods.

Basically,Mormons believe in a different God and a different Jesus. The God they believe in was once a man who ascended to "Godhood" and Jesus was the product of real sex between God and Mary.Lucifer is Jesus' brother and they got in a fight over ,'How to save mankind'.Lucifer wanted to force them to repent and Jesus wanted to go the "Cross way".During the fight, some spirits stayed neutral, these were punished with Black Skin when they were incarnated. It's a nutty religion and Christians should beware!!!
Also Baptist ,baptise after you are saved as an outward showing of your dying to the world and raising to new life in Christ.Mormons think you aren't saved unless you are baptised by them.

Because Mormon's use other books besides the Bible as scripture. They believe you can become a god. And because they believe that Satan and Jesus were brothers to name a few reasons.

Part of Satan's deceit. Both try to follow God's will. The structures of each are presently at different points of growth in Christ in this country presently.

Because Mormons say that they are Christians, but they are a completely different faith. You can believe what you want, just don't claim to be something you are not.
