love atheists and everyone for that matter instead of shunning them? I don't like it when people who proclaim to be christians call others bad things. Christians are to follow jesus, testify to nonbelievers. Not call them names and beat them down. That is not the christian way. Stop bashing nonbelievers. I am glad they are here so we can tell them about the lord.

Darkness was not created, it's simply the absence of light. The same goes for God. God was not created, He's simply the absence of science and logic.

i speak as an agnostic. christians and followers quote there holy books as evidence. atheists dont even offer any theory as to what caused the big bang they believe in. what real evidence does either offer as to whether there is or is not a god? im not saying they should need to prove anything but does this in itself prove there is an amont of faith required in either?

I tried posting this before, but it never showed. Here goes again:

I posed this as part of an answer for another question, but I think it's worth posting here.

People call Evolution a theory.

Atomic theory is a theory as well. Science doesn't create "laws" today... we deal with theories.

So, Evolution shouldn't be believed because it is "just a theory"... Ok.

You're sitting next to a nuclear bomb. Atomic "theory" predicts that sufficient fissionable material, compressed, will cause a nuclear explosion. It's a "theory", and NOT a law.

You have a telephone beside you. It can dial only two numbers, and is pre-programmed. You can make only one call.

The first number is to a nuclear scientist who has a "theory" of how to stop the bomb.

The second number is to a famed and trusted "prayer warrior".

Who do you call?

Why does it seem that atheists tend to agree with each other and believers tend to disagree with each other.

A boy was born with no body, just a head. No arms, legs, stomch etc. When he turned 18 his father took him out for a drink. He had his first one, then boom, he had a neck, he had another then boom, he had shoulders, another, arms legs etc. So he was really happy that he finally had a body so he ran out into the street shouting and over joyed then a truck came, ran him over and killed him. The bartender said to the dad, "he should have quit whilst he was a head".
Yes i' bored and that was stupid, as if a head can survive. Like totally duh, bimbo style.

I personally find it hard to be faithful. I'll never be able to follow a religion and gain "the love" of some sort of superior being, so I just turn to science because of it's rationality and logic.

right after Christ died there were two sects. one of Paul and one of James (brother of Jesus). Jesus said i will build my church on Peter. so why don't we read the gospel of Peter? why don't we read the gospel of James?

how do we know that we picked the right gospels. in Galations doesn't Paul say that the disciples of Jesus taught the gospel of circumscision while he taught a different gospel. the gospel of Barnabas used to be in the canon and was considered holy scripture. the gospel of Mary was rejected because it was written by a women (mary)

what about the gospel of Thomas that are sayings of Jesus?

Where does the bible say that sinners will burn in hell? Please give me the scripture, book and verse, that will acurately state this. No context inferred, or we just know, I need the exact place in the Bible where I can read about how God punishes sinners in fire and torment.

Please ask yourself why you are lucky enough to have been raised to believe or have found the "TRUE" religion instead of one of the other 400 "wrong" religions, and then tell me what you come up with. I would appreciate answers that don't include the book your religion comes with. They all have a book. That's just another way of saying, "I believe in this religion." Not WHY. So I'd deeply appreciate hearing WHY your religion is the correct one.

Also, I'd be very interested to hear what you would do if you had been raised to believe in a different religion than your own. Thanks everyone. :)

Exodus 22 "18": Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

does this not brake one of the ten commandments?

does it justify the return of witch burning?

or is it just a contradiction?

This is an honest question.

I believe in God and I believe that I need to serve Him and encourage others to serve Him. That is how I look at religion.

What is religion to an atheist?

I have seen it argued that God could be seperate from our reality, and therefore would not be subject to the laws of nature that he put in place to govern the universe. If we look at the sacrifice of God's son, and assume that God is Omnipotent, this would lead us to the conclusion that God was fulfilling a need he had set in place, and thereby would show us that He was subject to his own laws. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
