Amen sister. I agree. God loves the atheists so much that He died for them. I apologize for those Christians who seem to hate the people that God told us to love. If we really loved the lost like Jesus commanded I really feel that more people would want to know the Christ that we claim, I am glad that they are on the site too. I feel God leads them here to hear about the love of Lord. Let us show them what that really is.

HERE HERE ! I'm so glad that you wrote this, I feel exactly like you. I just cringe when I hear Christians calling nonbelievers names and acting so hateful.
I'm so glad someone finally said something like this, I only wish everyone would read it.
God Bless and I look forward to meeting in our Eternal home, we will recognise each other from this common stand

Jesus said we are to love our enemies and our neighbors and each other. Some believers seem to think that loving them means pointing out each and every non-Christian aspect of their lives and warning them that hell awaits them because of those aspects. Like Bush loved the Iraqi people by taking over their country and liberating them into a civil war.

This is how I see it. I am more concerned about hate literature in Yahoo then I am about whether or not an atheist/pagan/hardcore secularist likes Christmas holiday decorations. I might understand the Rabbi or Imam who wants decorations or songs of his own faith in public.
If one doesn't want to be Buddhist, which I was considering in another chapter of my life, one doesn't go to the Buddhist center. I stopped agreeing with it. I stopped going. I don't reject them as people. There are many good aspects to their religion but it wasn't for me. I have known other Buddhists and respect them. Showing hate as an atheist is wrong. If it comes from Christians, and that is rare, it is wrong.

I agree but Sadly in what passes for Christianity these days your comments almost seem out of place.
Many of those who claim to be Christians on here fit perfectly into the definition I have of someone who is a bigot.
You give me hope.
love and blessings Don

Amen. Jesus didn't come into this world to help the spiritually healthy. He came here to help the spiritually sick. So we should adopt the same attitude toward the unhealthiest of the spiritually unhealthy (i.e., atheists). And when Jesus died for us, He did so while He and we were enemies (i.e. sinners). He didn't wait for us to become free of sin (we couldn't have done that on our own anyway). So we should adopt the same attitude toward atheists and reach out to them as they are, warts and all.

It's very kind of you to be concerned but we're generally bright enough to tell the nice Christians from the trogs. There are plenty of Christians I like here. The rest can do what they like.

How about you ask this question again - except this time start it with:
Shouldn't we, as human being, love each other regardless of religion or spiritual beliefs?
Might make more of an impression on us non-Christians who feel this way to begin with.

I think that goes back to the whole prodigy: "Hate the sin, not the sinner" .
We are not to accept the sin, but accept the person. We are to love them as ourselves, not shun them. Jesus was known for eating with tax collectors and notorious sinners. God willing, any of us doing this will bear testimony to them.
