For all of the prophecies that have been written in olden times that have came to pass, and all them that have been written and are coming to pass now, how can you not believe that the prophecies that are left to come forth are true? A Thousand Years and then in to the Lake of Fire does not sound pleasant.

What's the minimum that would need to occur to convince you that your religion is bogus? Non-religionists could answer the flip side...what would it take to make you believe?

In nature, all living things have a creator, but that creator dies after it has created its offspring (eventually.) The only way any of the creator lives on is through it's creations.

The logical conclusion is that whatever created us is long since dead and gone, which coincides with everything we have ever seen or learned from nature.

How do you know (without quoting scripture) this isn't what took place with the creation of our universe?

On the religion board or the biology board?

My take: if you wanted to learn about evolution, you'd post in on biology where it is appropriate.

But if you're a religion hack with a dark-ages axe to grind against science, you'd post it here.

What say you?

All beit a very good man who spread the word of God greatly. God is great, I really believe in God... someone had to create out beautiful lives and everything in it.

The Bible did not arrive by fax from heaven…The Bible is the product of man. Not of God. The Bible did not fall magically from the clouds. Man created it as a historical record of tumultuous times, and it has evolved through countless translations, additions, and revisions. History has never had a definitive version of the book.

At the gathering of the Council of Niceau in 324 AD, many aspects of Christianity were debated and voted upon - the date of Easter, the role of the bishops, the administration of sacraments, and, of course, the divinity of Jesus . . . until that moment in history, Jesus was viewed by His followers as a mortal prophet . . . a great and powerful man, but a man nonetheless. A mortal.

I rarely ever see a "real" question concering religion in this forum. All that is ever posted is "Hate Posts" spewing venom and garbage at everybody. If people post this stuff just for shock factor, I would think that it would be way old by now! I am not even that religious and even I find most of these posts offensive and discusting.

For example: "What would Jesus do?" (WWJD?) or "let your conscience be your guide" or "kill 'em with kindness" or "put God 1st" ....etc...
something like that ...or whatever your main guiding principle is...if you can identify it.

Any religion that claims to be the only way to God is a lie.

That is what the God that I believe in would say.

Brother in Islam, Mr. "Pakastani Pride", along with many other Muslims in here constantly mock Buddhists and Hindus. Do any other faiths or non-faith people do so?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061228170814AAD9xYe&r=w#F8AmDjK0UzFJ5GTRaEP9rSyzcfjfG8b9535N821YR9PboEdq7e2B

Why do you think Muslims hate Buddhists and Hindus so? Read Pakastani pride, his questions and answers say it all. It has nothing to do with what Buddhists and Hindus DO, but only with what they believe. In other words, Islam creates the opposite of the golden rule. Forget how Buddhists treat you, instead worry about what they believe and murder them for that.

This hatred is so intense, it gave rise to the greatest genocide in human history.
Chapter 4 - Islam and the Muslim Invasions “Let it be said right away: the massacres perpetuated by Muslims in India are unparalleled in history, bigger than the Holocaust of the Jews by the Nazis; or the massacre of the Armenians by the Turks” http://www.nalanda.nitc.ac.in/resources/english/etext-project/history/gautier/chapter4.html

Sorry, I had to sneak this one, it got deleted for some strange reason last time. Here's the real question. Are all the Christians on this site who use the bible verses Romans 1:22 and Psalms 14:1 to imply that Atheists are fools going to hell?

Matthew 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Here are the verses they use:
Romans 1:22
Professing to be wise, they became fools,

Psalm 14:1
The fool has said in his heart,“There is no God.”

one prime example
Pagans believe in the forces of nature.
The type of Pagan I am belong to those who believe in Things seen and unseen in the FACTUAL natural world. There is not too much superstition.
I believe when I die my life force--energy-- spark of life-- will get redistributed for other living things to use and grow. All of our life force energy will get bashed in one day when our Sun goes supernova==-
The DNA will carry on through the universe until it lands somewhere in the universe where it can support life, then what we contributed will give life elsewhere...
just like where we originated...and on and on.

condemn 75% of the people alive today to hell?

Lets use an estimate and say that 55% of this world is Christian. Of those 55%, how many are "saved"? It is probably less but lets say 25%. Now remember Catholics are not considered "saved", by the fanatics. So what we are being asked to believe is 75% of all the humans alive today are going to go to hell. Are you really that stupid?

I believe that God hates the bible more than I do for the way He is portrayed as a vengeful and jealous entity. Shame on those that wrote that hateful book.
