"It's not about me."
I have my assured eternal life/salvation the focus is no longer about me but about God and how God is represented to the world.
"Spread the Gospel at all time and only when absolutely necessary use words" is an other favorite.
St. Augustine did a great job with that one reminding us that God is judged most often by the actions of Christians and whether they alling with the words. Live what you believe and others should find something attracting.

The Lord will not put more on you than you can bear. I say that constantly in my mind. My Mother was diagnosis with cancer in February 06 and passed away April 06. Another verse I use to help me is; Weeping may endure for the night but joy will come in the morning.

Interesting question. I have a few:
Life is a level playing field, no matter what authority others presume or abdicate.
All of us are smarter than any one of us.
The mind is everything. What we think, we become. (The Buddha)
Everything that occurs is mutually dependent on many other events. (And everything means every neuron that fires, every snowflake that falls, and every seed that sprouts.)
Any god that exists is irrelevant. (Those that do not exist but are believed in are to be feared and defended against.)
Do not do anything to someone else that you would not want done to you in a similar circumstance.

"might as well not exist than live and do nothing to help others."
-young one (me)
i think that if someone is born with the ability to help people, they should not be so egotiscal and live only to fulfill their own selfish desires or live for their own happiness. if i have the potential to improve someone else's life, they why not? we are all people. don't we want everyone on earth to do well?
i can not live with the fact that i had the potential to help people, and i did nothing. i wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that i did nothing to help those that are suffering, even if it was just one person's life that i change. my existence is meaningless if i did nothing to change this world.

I act strictly on the basis of evidence, and have faith in nothing: faith is the ultimate evil, as it is the deliberate rejection of the one thing that makes us human: the ability to think.

I am atheist but I like the wiccan saying "No harm done".
I believe that we are free to do anything we want to do as long as there is no harm done to other people or to the planet and solar system.
