why is it that businesses usually have posters saying happy holidays and after xmas they have posters saying after xmas sales event? seems kinda of ironic that "merry xmas" is too politically incorrect because it might offend 15% of the country, but "after xmas" is just fine. and since many businesses also post "happy new year"(along with happy holidays), its usually not included as one of the "holidays" in the phrase "happy holidays". this whole happy holidays crap is pissing me off. the majority appeasing the minority. when i asked about this stupidity, someone actually answered bring up the phrase "tyranny of the majority" -is posting "merry xmas" a sign of religious tyranny? if youre so offended then you need to see a doctor, or else have enough backbone to ignore it if you dont like it.

This lady wanted to know why we disagree that the bible is factual. She got several answers.

The couple of answers that she agreed with got a thumbs up.

The answers from the people that the question was directed at got a thumbs down.

Now, those thumbs things are inconsequential, I know. But why ask a question directed at a group of people that you know that you are going to disagree with if you are going to consider their answers as bad answers? Is it just me? Does this seem absurd to you?

I'm extremely curious about this and have been for quite some time as I just don't "get" it. How can the lack of belief in a "supreme being" of any sort make one a follower of "the devil", who, I might point out, is another "supreme being" that the so-called "follower" does NOT believe in. Most atheists, agnostics, or acedics are giving, selfless, caring, grade-A people, yet are looked down upon and even pitied by those with "faith" just because they don't believe in a "higher power" above either their own or that of "mother nature" (don't bother trying to argue with me on this one - anyone whose been through a hurricane, tornado, tsunami, severe thunder storm, blizzard, whatever will tell you that "mother nature"s power is beyond compare). We're happy, balanced, helpful, caring, giving, loving people who just don't believe in the same things you do. So why pity, look down upon, or even brand us as "evil"? I just don't get it.

Ok a friend of mine saw my nativity scene on my buffet table and said it should not be displayed until Christmas Eve. Now I was like "What?...yeah right!". Ok because YAHOO has a lot of intelligent people out there...what are your thoughts on this...and do you believe this to be true? If it's a fact, can you back it with a source? My friend is Catholic...so I'm just wondering if this is some sort of catholic teaching. Nonetheless, I'm dying to know if this is true. I have just never heard of this.

Thank you - awaiting your response.

God was totally and absolutely understanding to forgive everyone for their sins and allowed everyone into Heaven regardless of their screw ups. Even if they didn't follow Bibilic procedures. So Heaven would be filled with Jews, Muslims, Gays, Marilyn Mason and his band along with the Billy Graham types just like it is down on Earth. Would you be bummed out?

I recieved lots of answers about this from Muslims but none from Catholics - I would like their take on the questions:

Christians say Jesus is God - Muslims say Jesus was a prophet, ie only human
If both worship the same God how could there be a contradiction like this - if both the Bible and koran were inspired by the same mind of God how could there be this logical contradiciton in terms
ie A cannot be A and not A at the same time
how can Jesus be God and not God all at the same time
Both books claim to be the inspired Word of God and both teachings are very clear - no human misinterpretations on this one -

My fiancee and me will get married next year. She's Christian, I'm Atheist.

Both of us don't mind whether or not the wedding will take place in a church. But it would make her mother happy.

So, I was wondering, isn't it some form of blasphemy if I would get married in a church?

I am in a old style country church. I'm getting ready to give my first sermon. My favorite preacher is there with me, and is suppose to introduce me as the preacher for that sunday. i have an empty glass in my hand from my house, and every time that I approach the altar to preach, i remember there are other things that have to happen first, (like announcements, singing, etc). Right as I finally get to actually go to the altar, they doors open and they wheel in two crippled girls in wheel chairs. I get very nervous for some reason and walk off to the left of the pulpit to read my notes while everyone is loving on the two children. While i'm looking for my notes in my bible, some dude is talking to me. He's saying how I have no business preaching, that I don't know my bible like I should. Then I lose my notes. I walk back up to my preacher and tell him i'm to freaked out to preach. He says he understands, and I leave. THoughts?

Romans 4

18Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be."[d] 19Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah's womb was also dead. 20Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.

How do you explain evidence of Glaciation in Israel during the Mid-Pleistocene era?
Why is there no mention of Glacial periods in the Bible.
Surely if the climate changed so radicaly that glaciers formed in Israel they'd be mentioned in the Bible, somewhere?

The actions and traces of glaciation are obvious and consistent worldwide and can be seen and studied today at current glaciation sites. They do not vary.

Could it be that the Geological time scale is correct and these Glaciers were in Israel about one million years ago?
