Christians are angry only because the Greek abbreviation for Christ is not properly set out, it ought to be Xt, and Mass is not spelled correctly-- thus "Xt-Mass".
Christians will not be angry when you pay off a senator to rename the holiday "seXmas", they will be overjoyed to read the FBI has arrested the both of you for violating the federal bribery statute, especially since the fine will be $10,000 or 10 years in a federal penitentiary. Then again the penalty may have been indexed to inflation and the two (2) of you will be sentenced to pay $250,000 or spend 20 years of your lives in jail.
Oops pray it's not a "hanging District Judge" because then the sentence could be a $250,000 fine and 20 years in jail known as MiXMas.
