I am in a old style country church. I'm getting ready to give my first sermon. My favorite preacher is there with me, and is suppose to introduce me as the preacher for that sunday. i have an empty glass in my hand from my house, and every time that I approach the altar to preach, i remember there are other things that have to happen first, (like announcements, singing, etc). Right as I finally get to actually go to the altar, they doors open and they wheel in two crippled girls in wheel chairs. I get very nervous for some reason and walk off to the left of the pulpit to read my notes while everyone is loving on the two children. While i'm looking for my notes in my bible, some dude is talking to me. He's saying how I have no business preaching, that I don't know my bible like I should. Then I lose my notes. I walk back up to my preacher and tell him i'm to freaked out to preach. He says he understands, and I leave. THoughts?

The dream shows signs of self doubt. The empty glass and missing notes. the trouble with starting your sermon. Your doubting yourself. It could be fear of failure or fear of judgment. As you are hearing someone telling you that you don't know enough, I would suggest you have a fear of failing.
It is no small feat to teach religious doctrine to people. We all get stage fright. The fear of failure is very strong in priests preachers etc because we literally hold our people's understandings of eternity in our hands. It is a big responsibility.
I wish you well. I hope you can get beyond these fears and succeed in your calling.

Perhaps you've become too tied up in your hell-fire and damnation preaching to remember the love that Christ preached? Perhaps the message is not to stop preaching, but to preach the love of Christ rather than trying to "scare" people into beleiving. Scaring people might get them to say the sky is green when it is blue, but their hearts remain unchanged. Show them the truth of the love, and their hearts will be turned in the right way.

Dreams are about our unresolved emotions in conscious state. The scenes outline these emotions for us to resolve them.Fears of public speaking are some of the strongest we experience. There is a fear in your conscious life that is the same as this type of fear.

Your dream appears to lean towards something that is making you anxious, something that is likely to happen in the near future. Do you have a public speaking event that you must perform?

It reminds me of a scripture. James 1:27

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Sometimes we get caught up looking religious, but real faith in God is summed up in obeying the second great commandment, "Love thy neighbor as thyself."

I think it's better for you to be the one that interprets your dreams because you know what's going on in your life. Here's a really good website for help with dream interpretations... www.dreemmoods.com
