Religion & Spirituality - 18 December 2006

Man has been inventing religions and gods for thousands of years, many of which have lasted thousands of years but eventually died out : sun worship, moon worship, ocean worship, star worship, Egyptian religion, Inca religion, Aztec religion, Maya religion, Native American religion, Greek religion, Roman religion, Aboriginal religion, African tribal religions, mono theistic religions, Maori religion etc etc.

Why are the current crop of manmade gods any different.

Their main advantage seems to be that improved worldwide centuries over the centuries have enabled them to spread far and wide.

But will this be enough to save them from extinction like all the other religions that have been and gone ?

In this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... some of you concured that mediums and sensitives are evil and they are tied into witchcraft. So are they born evil? I was born able to see (sensitive, NOT psychic), I didn't ask for it. I still beleive in God, but am I'm evil by default by your beleifs because I can see and sense things that you cannot? How do you figure that?

What is it that is so much worse than anything that has happened before?? IMO nothing is, we've had numerous periods throughout history that were MUCH MUCH worse than anything that is happening today, it you think things are bad today, you really need to pick up a history book. The world is an a virtual golden age compared to most past history.

It seems that if you really believed that the holiday is for the birth of Jesus, you would stick to that and skip Santa, trees, gift giving, etc. etc. Don't tell me those things are connected to Jesus. That is a HUGE stretch.

If you don't believe in one religion, you'll go to hell, don't believe the other, you'll go to hell. Does Judaism believe that if Jesus died for our sins, you go to heaven? They don't believe he is the messiah.
So does that mean all jews are going to hell. People can't nick pick through the bible and say if they are a good person they will go to heaven. If you believe in Christianity, a person must believe that Jesus died for your sins to go to heaven. If you're a christian and don't believe in this, then you're not a christian, you're nick picking.

If someone you know you can trust told you that there is a "viper" among your friends. I know this may sound strange, but I did not react on this when I heard it. Among those that you call friends, there is always one person that is not really a friend. I can't blame a "viper" to be born as one, even a real snake has its own role in the animal kingdom or else JC wouldn't create it in the first place.

Like how people say "no to jesus" and "religion should be banned"

These are the attitudes predicted by the bible at the end of days. Let alone the other signs around the world. But these are people in our own country.

i just don't understand why people don't believe in anything. we did'nt just get here by some strange happening. while you are here, you might as well beleive in something. everyone is entitled to believe and do what they want and i respect that so i'm nottrying to knock atheist because i love everyone. did something tragic happen to you? born into it? lose faith?

In the Bible of St. John 14:6 Jesus said to one of his disciples "Iam the way the truth and the life, no man cometh but by me." In St. John 3:16 Jesus (GOD The Son) is sent by God his father to die so that whoever believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
I mean, if 90% of the world were Christians don't you think the world would have been a much better and prosperous place?
