If so, why doesn't the fact that Earth is seething with life challenge it?

What's the point of going out of our way to try and find other life forms? Why don't we concentrate on the life forms we have on earth?

I think the universe probably IS lousy with life of all kinds. It doesn't challenge my idea of the "soul", whatever that is. It does, however, challenge the precepts that the human race and all its religious dogma is the be-all and end-all of the universe. Used to be humans were SO SURE that everything revolved around the Earth. NOT. So they backpedal and say, "Okay, okay, you're right, everything couldn't possible revolve around the Earth -- but everything else in our cooked-up theories of a grand creator remains true." Uh, huh.

Even if the Universe was perfect in the sense that everything was superiorly lovely and physical, even if the Universe was completely nonexistent in the physical sense, it certainly doesn't entail that this soul you speak of should be separate to all life forms and that we can much less detect it in this physical form. The soul as a concept is immaterial and has never any aims of being discovered, even if it did exist. So no, nothing proves it but also nothing denies it either.

Depends on your idea of the soul.

I believe that all things have soul or, more accurately, are soul, because I believe that soul is the energy and intelligence of God which pervades the entire universe. In fact there is only one soul, and all partake of it. So I have no problem with the idea of the entire universe teeming with life. However, someone who believes that only humans have souls would have to do all sorts of mental gymnastics over this. In fact, in recent history it was debated if people of other races were truly human and had souls.

The fact that the Universe is just lousy with life doesn't change my opinion that the soul doesn't exist. Why should it.

Where is the connection "with life of all kinds" in the universe and the soul??

If there are souls, why shouldn't they be throughout the universe?

Don't see why it would. If God created everything then He created other planets' life as well. "In my Father's house there are many mansions'.
