My mother-in-law is one of those stereotypical (I know not all are actually like this) women who accuses the daughter-in-law of "stealing" her son. Anyway, I've never really felt comfortable with her babysitting our daughter. She always fed our daughter junk food (which is fine, to an extent, but this woman goes WAY overboard). I've seen her feed another grandchild for an after-school snack 2 ice cream sandwiches, then sat her down in front of the TV with a TUB of ice cream and a SERVING SPOON to eat and THEN a family size bag of potato chips to eat until she is done (a 5 yo). Among other things (hours upon hours of TV, playing with glass Christmas ornaments, force-feeding, etc.) this is typical. Anyway, my husband and I found out in June she was using METH. While I am no longer angry with her, I cannot let her watch my child (actually husband's decision, he is a police officer). Is it possible to forgive but not let her have my daughter.

When G-d gave the laws in the five books of Moses, did he make a mistake? He gave us laws we couldn't do so he had to send his son to rectify the problem?

Or was he being sadistic by giving us laws we couldn't follow and made us suffer with them for over 1300 years?

Or is he not omniscient and didn't realize we couldn't keep them?

Remember according to Christianity the laws are impossible to keep that is why G-d sent Jesus.

Then all women in his congregation concur with this and the men go wild of course, this being a dream for them to hear.

Why do people think Islam is so bad when Christianity is doing the SAME damn thing...different station?

Christianity is a belief based faith were actions mean little.

Isn't Christianity just a get out of hell free card? Do what you want just believe in Jesus.

Martin Luther said the greatest acts of the greatest men are mortal sins. So what is the point?

6,446,131,400 People on Earth
2,100,000,000 Christians

4,346,131,400 People damned to hell (plus any Christians who have doubts)

Not to mention the billions upon billions of people who have already died.

So your god makes all these billions of people knowing full well that the vast majority will spend eternity in anguish for not having a belief.

Nice Guy

Think about it...

the earth's soil is fertile and allows plants to grow, to come up from the ground, and provide oxygen for us to breathe. without oxygen there is no life.

So why not worship the earth, why not call it "god" as it has given life to us all. At least the earth is tangible...you can touch it, feel it, know it will always be there.

Or is that too much of a "dirty hippy" philosophy for you all?

I am a photographer and on ocassion, I get asked to shoot at weddings and such. This weeked I had to shoot a wedding, but the priest did not allow flash photography inside. This is NOT a famous church, rather a small community temple, and this is NOT a well lit place. It has low stained glass windows all around (which burned when I exposed for the couple) and very orange tungsten lights... I was forced to use ISO1600 with my fastest (f/1.4) lens. I did OK, but I am wondering WHY DO SOME CHURCHES PROHIBIT FLASH??? Maybe a priest can help answer this...

God said that if they ate they fruit they would die. The serpent said that if they ate the fruit they would gain knowledge. God lied, the serpent told the truth. Why do people hate the honest serpent but love the lying, decieving god?

i'd like to hear other peoples views on what happens when you die. There are so many theories and i'd love to know what most people believe. I believe that there is no hell just a heaven designed for each person. Everything and everyone you love will be there and it's almost like you are god because you have powers (physical and mental). eg. if you want to relive a special day you had when you were alive you can go back there and watch it all from the view of a 3rd person (invisible of course!) Also i believe that you can choose whether you would like to live again as someone or something else - and you can say no and do it later if you want to. What do you all think happens?

I have here than one time God asked for an opinion on how He shoul treat men, than satan said:Force them to worship you. But Jesus said: No,let them be free to make a choice;Than God likes Jesus opinion better than satan's,and thats when satan revelds and some other angels agree with him,so God send him and his followers to hell(or to the earth I'm not sure)and than they become demons?

This is not argumentitive. Is your problem with believers the individual believers, or the religion?

For example, I consider myself to be an educated, and kind person, and I believe that Christ taught us kindness. I am not opposed to homosexuals being given equal rights, I never vote my faith, I vote the politics. I am a Christian, but do not associate with any particular religious movement, such as Cathiloc, Baptist, whatever, I just follow Christ.

But RELIGION, and its movements in the past, with men who kill in the name of God, who force conversions, who continue to speak out loudly about many unpopulare and discrimanitory laws and practices, is that the problem?

I am not talking about your personal belief, Im just wondering if your problems with Believers, stem from not liking a group without knowing the idividuals (blanket statement ALL Christians hate gays), or if it the religious movements themselves that are what bothers you more?
