Man has been inventing religions and gods for thousands of years, many of which have lasted thousands of years but eventually died out : sun worship, moon worship, ocean worship, star worship, Egyptian religion, Inca religion, Aztec religion, Maya religion, Native American religion, Greek religion, Roman religion, Aboriginal religion, African tribal religions, mono theistic religions, Maori religion etc etc.

Why are the current crop of manmade gods any different.

Their main advantage seems to be that improved worldwide centuries over the centuries have enabled them to spread far and wide.

But will this be enough to save them from extinction like all the other religions that have been and gone ?

One advantage is that today's gods can be more abstract. We have evolved to the point where we can grasp these concepts.

The ancient religions ascribed gods to many things they didn't understand: The sun, rain, volcanoes, etc. As people learned more about these phenomena, they stopped ascribing gods to them.

So, we are left with abstract ideas. It's dangerous for a mythos to tether a god to an object. All it takes is investigation, and you debunk that god. Abstract gods are harder to debunk, though.

If you look at all of the religions you described, all of them taught first- idol or creation worship. The created things worshiping the created things. Man worships sun, man worships rivers, man worships models of other men, etc.
second- all of the religions you pointed out have been INCONSISTENT throughout their history. They gods of the Greeks and Romans, for example, have changed their behaviors throughout time. First Zeus is mean and savage, later he is kind and compassionate on man.
third- all these religions are dependent on MAN. As you said, they all died out when their civilizations died out. As the people 'decayed,' the gods decayed and were no longer worshiped.
fourth- like these religions, many of the religions of today are created things. Buddah was a man, a created thing. Though they say they do not worship him, this is proved false by all the statues that are mandatory in their homes and temples, etc. The supposedly believe their is only 'nature.' Nature=created thing. Islam's god, Allah, I do not know much about, but I do know he began to be worshiped when Mohammed began preaching about him. See, this is dependance on humans.
fifth- however, Christianity does not fall under any of these categories. God has been worshiped consistently since the beginning of time. He is not created, unlike every other religion you mentioned. He does not depend on man. Man, (the Jews in the Old Testament) fell away repeatedly for long periods of time, but God did not disapear with his followers. God was being worshiped long before Jesus came to earth, unlike Islam. Islam is also based on the Bible; whereas the Bible has never been really proved completely false. Therefore, Christianity does not fall under these categories. This is why, even though atheists and others do not acknowledge his being, God will never 'disapear' like all these other religions will.
sixth- i hope this helps prove that no matter what man does, God doesn't fall away or stop existing. God bless. The religions may descend in their prominence, but God/Jesus will never disapear. Let the Rocks Cry Out.

You have it right. No, they won't be saved from extinction; many many generations from now, human civilization will look at Christianity and Islam and consider them mythology. I give it a couple hundred years; it's not going to happen overnight, obviously, but no religion lasts forever.

Of course they are. I wish I could come back in about 2000 years and see where things stand. I bet most people living now would be in for a shocker!

One can only hope that the need for manmade gods will someday end for humanity.

But you are correct, the current crop is the same as all gods.

current beliefs encompass past religions to unify more people.

Now we need a belief/religion that encompasses Islam, Judaism, Christianity.

I was wondering, since the bible, and Koran do not mention the Americas are the people born there predestined to go to hell?
