Has anyone ever thought that maybe the key to life starting on earth really didn't start from earth. Since they found bacterial life on mars maybe since the earth back a million years ago was being hit with all kinds of space debris it brought bacteria or other forms of life from other parts of the universe and thats where the life came from....I mean we see other galaxies being formed all the time so maybe conditions were just right to start life then evolution? Who knows what was going on at other parts of the universe...but maybe thats the jump start the it needed. Life didn't just form on earth but it was brought here? Anyone else think its possible? *Religious people...please spare the bible verses and the rantings...I think this theory makes more sense.

If people are created in God's image, and half the human race is female, then why isn't "She" just as valid a pronoun as "He" when referring to God?

this is something i have been trying to work out about christian beliefs and I'm just not making any progress.

basically by at least SOME christian beliefs... no matter what you do, if you don't belive in Jesus you are doomed to be punished horribly in hell for eternity.
how is this justice?
I mean some basically say that we are BORN deserving this eternal punishment... but HOW? does that really make sense? we are born as God made us. it seems profoundly UN-just for God to make us in such a way that by default we "deserve" eternal punishment, I mean does that even make sense?

so my question is, (this part can apply to anyone I guess)
can you name a SINGLE crime that is capable of being perpetrated by a human being within a human life, that it would be JUSTICE to give them INFINITE punishment for?

and what is your reasoning for that, if you have an example of such a crime.

"Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law."

-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Dr. Thomas Cooper, February 10, 1814

"Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting "Jesus Christ," so that it would read "A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion;" the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan, the Hindoo and Infidel of every denomination."

-Thomas Jefferson, Autobiography, in reference to the Virginia Act for Religious Freedom

"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity."

-Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782

Therefore people that have no god would be living by man's rules and his rules alone. And who says what is civilized? a Man's interpetation?

If a colony of people live where they practice incest and bestiality and cannabalism is that oklay with you non-believers?

I ask these questions because many atheists seem to contradict themselves when asked what is right and wrong, moral or immoral

If man can dictate a Code of Ethics to live by then it would be easy for many future Hitler's to come of age...

Thanks for your reply.'s.:)

Did anyone watch the show on National Geograpics Called Was Darwin wrong? I watched it thinking that it was going to show some faults in Darwins theories..and being a Paleoanthropologist Major I was interested. I like to see both points of views but it completely Amazed me! And it showed some common arguments that People who believe in Creationism have and it proved every single one of them wrong! It was awesome! Did anyone else watch it?

As Decarte so aptly put it "Cogito ergo sum" I think therefore I am. If we defined human life as when their is a detectable EEG or brain activity by law, it would allow for euthenization of Brain dead people, and would set an agreeable time limit for legal abortions. There is no EEG until the second tri-mester.

Taking your kids to see Santa at the Mall VS. Praying with your children?
Singing songs about Santa/Reindeer VS. Singing songs about God and the like?
Dressing up as Santa to surprise your kids VS. Performing religious rites?

Aren't atheists and the like just as guilty as the religious and the like when it comes to teaching our children about reality?
