My advice:
Make them feel bad for bullying you. Ask them, "why do you have to tell me to shut up all the time?" If you have it in you, start crying hysterically and really loud. When they start to panic, and nobody else is looking, wink and flip them the bird.
The responsible advice:
If you're the type of person that gets made fun of a lot, then anything you do that is at their level, will just provoke them further. Ignore them, and just keep in mind that you're better than them. Act confident and they will see their words won't see any affect. DON'T LET THEM GRIND YOU DOWN. When they say "shut up," just continue with "anyways... as I was saying...".

Why do they insult you. If there is no reason, not much to do except ignore them. Anything you say will only make them worse. That is what I think anyway. Unless you want to give them a punch in the mouth which has been known to work.

They do it to anger you. If you come back with another insult, you are only giving them what they want, and they'll continue attacking you. You won't anger them, you'll entertain them.
However, if you really want to piss them off and insult them, behave as if they are about as important to you as the dirt they are. If you just have to react, act as if you are brushing away a mosquito or something and go on your way.
As my Granny would say, the opinions of worthless people are basically worthless anyhow.

Ignore them. They WANT a response. Ignoring them and having a good life without them in it really pisses them off. You have nothing to prove to them and anything they say about "being afraid to fight" or laughing because you don't come back at 'em is just a goad. You are bigger than that, they are not, and it will cost them in their lives later.

God bless you, I pray that you never have to walk in my shoes.
When you say this mean it with sincerity.
To help you with this remember what the bible says about sowing and reaping. This is a truth claim from God that is relevent to everyone, whether you believe in God or not.
It is also important to remember that God swings His arm for the righteous, we do not have to do anything. Be patient God has long arms. Keep your eyes on God and His path for you, learning to see your self the way God sees you. How much He values you, the regard and esteem He has for you. When you have a clearer understanding of your identity and value as a child of God, the Creator of the universe and all life in it and that He knows you by your name; those who are belittling and making fun of you or using you for the butt of their jokes start to take on a new perspective.
When we honor God, He honors us. As a steward for God we strive to reflect, represent and honor God with our thoughts and our actions. Remember that you are a citizen in the kingdom of heaven, God's ambassador and only a resident of this world.

You could say, in a very condensending tone ""My, how kind you are." Shake your head sadly and turn away or walk away.
If they say something insulting maybe say "Why thank you! I try so hard. I'm glad it's haing the desired affect."
In other words, be a smart *** no matter what they say or do And then, blow them off.

Actually saying something just triggers people to say even more. So if you try to fight back, they will find pleasure from it and provoke you even more. You should try really hard to ignore them. Sometimes talking over them with another person works too.

well depends what they say. I myself have comments for pretty much any insult anyone can throw. For instance the witches tonight have it in for me....they are even sending me some lovely hate mail. Only because I told them they worshipped the devil. Now you just watch, all my thumbs downs and I will bet I get a violation email. See you just hit them where it hurts gets em everytime. Find a weakness and hone in on it then attack. Or you could just laugh and love your neighbor, which works equally as well. That will drive them nuts because they cannot get you mad.
