No, most of the founders were men of faith (though hardly orthodox Christians, as some like to believe), but they were greatly influenced by Enlightenment principles and believed that "We the People" are the basis of political power, not a supreme being, and the government exists to serve us, not God. The U.S. Constitution is a purely secular document and is not based on the Ten Commandments, as is falsely believed by many.

No we were not. We were founded under the principle that no man has the right to impose his beliefs on another man.
As for 'In G-d we trust' that was put on our monies after the cold war because we thought it would help fight communist because they lacked a Deity figure.

Not all the founding fathers were Christian - that's a major fallacy.
The "In god we trust" on the money - how about actually looking up when that started? IT certainly isn't on any of the coins from 1776, or 1876 even.

Yes,but then those English slaughtered beautiful American Indians,at the same time they were trying to share the gospel.It was taken over all in the name of God.Those greedy English ate,were taught how to survive,given places of shelter,then they murdered the Indians.Very twisted to me.

If you go back to Jamestown and the Plymouth Colonies, which predate the Constitution....absolutely.
If you mean the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution...I don't think we can say that.
Theistic? 100%. Christian? Not quite.

Our Founding Father and the first people here came here to escape religious oppression. They wanted a place to practice Christianity without persecution, So yes..They came as Christians to found the country as such......but they also wanted EVERYONE to be welcome here.

In actuality most of the founding fathers, like Jefferson, were actually diests. They acknowledged the validity, however, of a strong moral core provided by the church for a stable political structure.

Yes. Christianity is the reason America became an independent nation. The Ten Commandments are the basis of our Constitution. The founding fathers were devout believers.

Absolutely not. In God we Trust, on our money was added in the late 1800's. The founding fathers based the principles of thier work on humanism.
