If you believe in an all-powerful, all-knowing, all-good diety (generally the only kind that exists in theologies that include an actual Satan figure), then God REQUIRES Satan. Let me explain:

If God is all-knowing, then God knows the best way to do things. Anything. If God is all-good, then God wants to always follow whichever way is the absolutely best way. If God is all-powerful, then we know God is totally capable of doing so... in fact, nothing could ever prevent God from doing so.

Therefore, if this is the type of God you believe in, then this universe must be the best of all possible universes. No matter what your senses or logic may tell you. There is simply no other alternative. And if Satan exists in this universe, then Satan must be required to provide the best of all possible universes.

So Satan is somehow part of creating the most good possible. Don't ask me how. I'm a logician, not a diety.

God created Lucifer as an angel.
According to scripture He was the most beautiful of angels.
He developed pride and God had to expel him from heaven.
Pride is a sin, and his pride also made Lucifer desire to replace God.
He was renamed Satan because he was a deceiver.

Satan, also known as the devil, has been busy trying to destroy the relationship between mankind and God. If he cannot defeat God he will try to defeat his purpose.

In the end, Jesus will come back and Satan will be thrown into a bottomless pit for a period of 1,000 years. Then he will release Satan, and he will try to rally the kings of the world against Christ, and Christ will have him thrown into the lake of fire for eternity.
A place where the fire is hot, but it does not consume.

If some of you guys did your own research, you might change your minds and hearts.

the only answer to that question comes from the Word of God (The Bible). God and the devil are not the same. While God is the Creator of the universe, the devil was once the greatest angel He (God) created. He was called Lucifer the archangel, the most beautiful and perfect creation of God. He was also in charge of Music. when, however, his (lucifer) heart became full of pride as a result of his beauty and perfection, he sought the honour and glory due to God, for himself. He was able to convince a number of angels to join him in his coup attempt against God. He failed of course and was then banished from heaven with his followers. he became satan the devil and his followers became demons. No wonder music is now very perverse and raw!

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Uh...not my God.
Satan is a fallen angel who used to be the most powerful angel named Lucifer, which means "light."
God tested the angels in some way, and Lucifer and others chose to disobey God.
Now they are satan and his devils and their ultimate goal is to get as many people as they can into hell before the end of the world to share in their misery. They tempt us constantly and it takes a lot of faith and strength to follow God until the end.
God Bless!

God runs it all. People give satan too much credit. satan cannot do anything without Gods permmission. Do you recall the story of Job, satan asked God if he could do the things to him. God told him what he could or couldnt do.

I think it is a really good topic to meditate on. Ask yourself why God (or Satan) would want to do bad things. Maybe good and evil exist because we are drawn to both and neither one could exist without the other. What would you call good, if there was no concept of evil to define it by?

I believe that we need to live in a balance. Good needs bad and bad needs good. As for your question, do you believe in God? if you do, the answer to your question would be "probably" or even "yes." If you don't believe in God, why even bother to think about the existence of Satan?

That's a cool question. Everyone tries to say whats good and evil to title things. I think they're one in the same for what they represent.
Or they are completely different because they are a part of the same scale.Or maybe they are the same because they are a part of that scale.

I believe good and bad are man-made words to associate certain emotional feelings to actions or events that either pleases or displeases him.

God is Santa Claus for adults. The sooner you realize there is no Santa Claus, the sooner you appreciate the real meaning of Christmas.
