Well I guess you could call me a 'Rodeo Person' if that's what you call them :) but i'd prefer cowgirl lol

Annd I'm not sure what you mean. Actually, cowboys and cowgirls have extremely special and close relationships with their horses (if they know what they're doing) as I do mine. Did you mean how do we catch them in the pasture? Well thats simple: My horse doesn't run AWAY from me, he runs TO me. We've built such a special relationship that he worries the other horses will get to me first haha

Or were you referring to the bucking broncos? This takes place in an enclosed arena where the horse can't 'run off in the field', but he can run off. Once the cowboy falls off, another cowboy riding his own horse grabs the quick relase on the flank strap that had been around the bronc's flank. Then they open a gate, which the horse goes right into because he knows there's food through that gate. It's the same way with bulls in bull riding, except the flank strap falls off rather than the other cowboy risking getting charged by the bull from getting that close.

I hope that covered what you meant. That's cool you're interested in rodeos. You should go to one. They are extremely exciting, I promise you'll be on the edge of your seat the whole time even if you don't know anything about them :)

First of all their horses r usually corralled when not in show. Secondly, it's quite easy to rope their horses while in the coral. Thirdly, if their horse is in any field usually their horse will answer to a whistle from it's master and if all else fails the cowboy waits until the horse comes looking for shelter or food like his favorite mixture of barley and oats which they seem not to be able to live without at some point.

Most cowboys will train their horse to come when called for. So there is no catching the horse at all.
Now if the horse is not trained, then it involves walking up to the horse, very slowly, speaking calmly and putting a rope around its neck.
You run after a horse, its instinct is to run faster to survive.
