As I understand faith in a spiritual context, it involves not needing evidence in order to believe something is true, at least not the kind of evidence that can be fully grasped by others or predicted. And in order to have that type of faith, wouldn't you have to embrace you ignorance and think in a way that is, with all due respect, irrational?

If a god is omnipotent, that god should be capable of anything. If a god is omniscient, that god should know everything of the past, present and future. Take the Christian god, who is supposed to be both. Omniscience would say that this god would know exactly what he would do on, say, December 17th at 8pm. But omnipotence would say he should be capable of doing anything at that time. To me, this seems to present a contradiction, indicating that a being could not simultaneously be omnipotent and omniscient.

Does anyone see it differently?

New Age, fundamentalist, theist all these labels etc.......Does anybody really care? Does everybody feel more comfortable with a label? I am this -I am that. Regardless, if we saw each other on the street would we run each other over with a car or what? Oh never mind their are many here who would actually like to run me over with a car.

I am reading a facsinating book about the Christian Science religion. The book is called "God's Perfect Child," by Caroline Fraser. She said the movement peaked in the 50's at around 200,000. Now I can't find any demographic numbers on them anywhere. I find that interesting that an organization so small should have so much visibility. They have a fourteen acre complex in downtown Boston.

If I were to believe in God I would guess there is no way we can tell who has the right god. Why not be open to other faiths and accepting to other beliefs? Christians only care about themselves and believe everything Jesus did and said. Homosexuals don't exist and women are 2nd to men. Why can't times change for Gays to become priests or priests to marry? Shouldn't all these preists be sent to jail for molesting children instead of moved to another church? I used to be Christian and has found they do more harm then good.

I apologize for the controversy, but I needed a consensus of the topic. I pray in my heart that the New Age be more traditional and under its own identity so that in the future our children will have something credible. To answer this question, think like a child (and respond like an adult). [LOL] I would appreciate any feedback, since I am asking you to speak up FOR THE SAKE OF OUR FUTURE. I wish I was joking like I was beforehand, but this time I am dead serious. A child would be curious to know what the New Age is, and I vowed to find a way to help ourselves protect our privacy. I know it is dificult to explain religion to a child, but the New Age really takes the cake. Please look within your hearts and answer with the best of your emotions. This is for our children and grandchildren, so think about it. May God bless you. Again, we must be serious, since "credible" means "easy to believe" and we want the New Age easy to believe in." I do not want this to be "incredible."

So I'm just a normal working pastor who simply tries to love through serving others, and works in a number of ways to help others to know God a little better. I put in at least 60 hours a week (usually at the expense of my own health!), but I still run across people who think all pastors are like televangelists (ick), living by deception. In your opinion, how can I best reassure people I meet that I honestly want to serve them as Christ served us all, and that I have no ulterior motive other than their spiritual growth?

Do you have a theory to explain how the organisms billions of years old are extremely simple, hundreds of millions of years old are more complicated, tens of millions of years old are even more complicated, and thousands of years old are extremely complex?

Although you may disagree with evolution, do you feel that this fits within evolutionary theory or do you feel it does not?

I was always taught it was axial tilt.

Axial tilt being the inclination angle of a planet's rotational axis in relation to a perpendicular to its orbital plane. The axis is tilted in the same direction throughout a year; however, as the Earth orbits the Sun, the hemisphere tilted away from the Sun will gradually come to be tilted towards the Sun, and vice versa. This effect is the main cause of the seasons.

So why are christians always going on about Jesus being the reason? His birthday wasn't even in December. It was August according to most theologians.
