why stop at the ten, if they are valid what makes the rest invalid?
none of them are bad, all of them help life so then why not keep them?

The reason is that the Sabbath day being on Saturday is a Jewish tradition. After Christ rose from the Dead on a Sunday, the early church (or at least a significant portion of it) began to gather on that day rather than the traditional Sabbath.

If you look at the way we structure out weeks now, we (typically) begin work on Monday, rather than Sunday. Sunday has become the (in essence) the last day of the week, as it is the "end" of the "weekend".

I sort of feel that getting caught up in the letter of the law, forgetting the spirit is what Christ preached against when healing on the Sabbath.

In any event, I'm not a Christian, so my insights are probably not worth the electrons and photons being used to transmit this message, but having grown up Christian, and having studied Christianity just a bit, those are my thoughts.

You are correct when you say that the sabbath was on Saturday. Did God give that commandment to you and I? No He gave that commandment only to the Jews because they were brought out of Egyptian bondage and the sabbath was given to them to observe. The other nine commandments were carried over into the New Testament but not the sabbath day. When Christ died on the cross, the way we worship changed from the law of Moses to the law of Christ. We are no longer bound by the Mosaical law.

i am a christian, but i am also human. no person alive can say that they follow the Ten Commandments all the time, and never mess up. but we can try to better ourselves. Sunday is the day that the "Church" set for the day of Sabbath, most people think the Sabbath is that day, because that is how they were raised. but Sunday is the beginning of the week, not the end. there is the best answer i can give to a fellow Christian

We are told in the NT to bring our tithes and offerings to the storehouse on the first day of the week. Also John and Peter went to pray in the temple daily.
In the OT, if you study it very carefully you will find that the Jewish people had many sabbath days other than Saturday.
Jesus did not come to do away with the law but came to fulfill it.

thanx fer da edumacation.

I think I know that Sunday is NOT the Sabbath.

My Sabbath is everyday. The command is to keep the Sabbath Holy, each day is Holy for the true believer.

Sunday is what we call, The Lords Day! That is why we go to Church on Sunday.

The Sabbath was a sign pointing to Jesus, who is our rest. Since Jesus has come as our Savior and Lord, God no longer requires us to observe the Sabbath day and other holy days of the Old Testament.

Matt. 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Matt. 12:8 "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

Col.2:16-17 Do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Heb. 4:9-10 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from His.

God requires Christians to worship together.

Acts2:42,46 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.... Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.

Heb. 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

He has not specified any particular day.

Rom. 14:5-6 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He
who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord.

Gal. 4:10-11 You are observing special days and months and seasons and years! I fear for you, that some how I have wasted my efforts on you.

The church worships together especially on Sunday because Christ rose from the dead on Sunday.

Luke 24:1-2 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb.

Acts 20:7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.

SOME Christians believe that the Sabbath is Saturday, but my religion believes it is on Sunday, and we do observe it faithfully. It is not for you to say that we do not follow the Ten Commandments if we do not observe Saturday. Some of us interpret the Bible differently.

1. Many Christians DO fail to follow all of the commandments. It's a sin.

2. It doesn't matter if your sabbath falls on Sunday, Saturday or Wednesday. Those names are all part of the modern calendar, which is of pagan origin anyway.

The important thing is to commemorate one day per week because God rested on the 7th day of creation.

In reality Jesus said we will all fall short of the glory of God we are human humans sin and humands make mistakes. I consider Sunday my day of sabbath I'm a nurse and people get sick 24/7 so.... I do keep the 10 commandments but I still have sin in my life because I'm human. The goal is to become more like Jesus less like human. Another note reguarding Sabbath most churches have service on Sunday.

I think as long as you have one day a week that you treat as the Sabbath it's okay. In some places it's Saturday or Monday. For my family it's the Sunday. I don't see a problem with it.
