Max Ehrmann

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

See, around a month ago I started expirementing with the Wicca religion. What I have read, they are all about peace and no harm to anybody.
But alot of people have said they are associated with witches and spells. It is true there are Wiccan spells, but they are only to help.

I wa sjust wondering if anybody was a Wiccan and can tell me anything about it, or if anyone has ideas or comments.
Thanks!

Well, BDSM and D/s is explained from a secular viewpoint on porn sites. But recently I ran across a group for this on Yahoo and websites about Christians who practice this as a lifestyle. For those who know about this type of lifestyle, do you think it is or can be compatible with Christianity? Why or why not? Please feel free to use scriptures to support our views.

Thank you,

Sue

The text is different from the lecture because it talks about correlation either positive or negative in one book. In the other it talks about the senses and how faith may go beyond our sensory experience. Human senses are adaptable and are able store data. The book the author speaks about the lives and faith that our senses contribute to faith. The skin is the largest organ in the body. The chapter is appealing because we know that the skin has a very important job it regulates the body's temperature much like a car's radiator. If it does not have enough fluid it could send the body into shock yet creating pain.

Can we then determine that intelligence has NOTHING to do with religious persuasion?
If anyone is interested in a list of scientists throughout history who were Christians or deists, I can provide it. Just let me know in your answer and I'll post a link.

So my next question is:
If it's true that some of the most intelligent and famous scientists have been Christians or deists (and actually, it IS true), why, then, do I STILL see people on here attempting to insist DAILY that Christians and other religious people are unintelligent?
Intelligence has nothing to do with whether a person will choose to be religious or not. So why do some people say it DOES affect a person's choice?

To believe in God, do you think one must be a Billy Graham or some other great Christian. Or if you have only the faith of a tiny mustard seed will Jesus still save you?

Traditional satanists really could care less if you believe in Satan, God or neither. Why is that? There are countless of supernatural accounts coming from their camps but ,if anything, the traditional satanist would rather you throw it in your bullsh** pile as they do your skepticism. Traditional or spiritual satanist are completely satisfied and even to a large extent support skeptic views of their highly concealed activities. Shouldn't this make someone turn their head? Oddly enough, mainstream media runs from these stories and these Satanist aren't particulary hurt by the lack of exposure either. Whats going on here? I've dealt with Salem Burke personally and his cohorts and they weren't very responsive to me. They displayed disgust that I was even asking for more info into their world. This is not typical of a religion but of a gang. It is really as simple as that.

And this food is called among us Eukaristia(5) [the Eucharist], of which no one is allowed to partake but the man who believes that the things which we teach are true, and who has been washed with the washing that is for the remission of sins, and unto regeneration, and who is so living as Christ has enjoined. For not as common bread and common drink do we receive these; but in like manner as Jesus Christ our Saviour, having been made flesh by the Word of God, had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so likewise have we been taught that the food which is blessed by the prayer of His word, and from which our blood and flesh by transmutation are nourished, is the flesh and blood of that Jesus who was made flesh.(6) For the apostles, in the memoirs composed by them, which are called Gospels, have thus delivered unto us what was enjoined upon them; that Jesus took bread, and when He had given thanks, said,
