Well, BDSM and D/s is explained from a secular viewpoint on porn sites. But recently I ran across a group for this on Yahoo and websites about Christians who practice this as a lifestyle. For those who know about this type of lifestyle, do you think it is or can be compatible with Christianity? Why or why not? Please feel free to use scriptures to support our views.

Thank you,

Sue

No one has given any scripture. Yes, I am interested in the concept, at least as far as the man being head of the home and responsible to take care of a woman. On the other hand, that can be carried too far. But has feminism taken us too far in the other direction?

Some one mentioned the use of pain, but there are many philosophies on the sexual and physical side of this that are all encompassed in BDSM .... at least from what I have read on the subject.

I think my interest is derived from not seeing any men in my life (father, brother, husband, etc.) who actually take responsibility for the home and realize they are called to be willing to lay down their life for their wife ... but are quick to want submission in other areas.

Would something be wrong with a good, capable man being in charge, as long as he knows his own responsibility before God?

As long as it's done within the marriage covenant (Sacrament of Holy Matrimony) among two partners who are willing participants...what's the problem?

I see none.

don't think so. The sub would have to elevate the dominant to too high a level- G-d is very jealous and demands total submission to Him (in Christianity at least). I don't see how it would work out, even if you can come up with an argument on how causing pain to another is christian like

females can be the dominant ones in these relationships. this will conflict with strict, literal-readers of christianity as well as other orthodox religions.

personally I don't see where god meshes with sex.
people who practice BDSM 24/7 might have some conflicts but for most I see no issues

When I saw the title question I was sucked in. I don't think I would ever put Christianity and BDSM together. I don't see why they couldn't go together I just never would have thought about it myself. Nothing really surprises me anymore.

The bible goes on about how the woman should be subservient to the man and how she should not speak up against a man and on and on, so it is there.

femdom is very difficult to put inside a biblical framework since the bible is so misogynistic, but the other way around is practically commanded by the bible
