Now that I know the reason why Catholics ask Mary and the Saints to pray for them, I'd like to know if those who followed Jesus during His lifetime and shortly afterward participated in the communion of the saints. Again, please use Biblical and/or historical proof in your answer. Thank you!

But doesn't it seem that the opposite is true as well, that it is easier to believe the bible when you know less about it?

In my experience the people who know least about the Bible are it's biggest supporters.

How is it then also that so many Biblical scholars and members of clergy can believe it so strongly? Is it their faith that overcomes their knowledge? Why would that be?

about her lying.

Is it okay to lie if it suits YOUR purpose? If lying helps you in your quest....then it's okay?

Since life is all we have, all we know about, and is so short, then we can say that there is nothing more precious to us. If life is the most precious thing, then abortion should be illegal. Right?

If we go beyond the biological taxonomy of "life" and say that the human embryo or growth is not life or life worth protecting, arent we now making something like a religious pronouncement?

Science says its human life. Thats not a judgement, its a biological fact. Anyone who says "its not a life" is simply ignorant of science. Its not for debate. More intelligent proponents of abortion dont deny this scienetific fact, they merely try to draw an arbitrary line at where human life can be protected.

The moment we distinguish one clump of human cells (me or you) from another smaller clump (embryo) is the moment we make a religious declaration. We declare one clump "human" and another "inhuman" or "viable" and "deadmeat". Sounds like religion to me.

There are two forces in the world, one is to grow and evolve to our potentiality as humans, the other is to destroy ourselves. love unites blame, judgment, and hate divides. Why is religion not teaching this??????? busy fighting over whose religion is right?? i really do not get it???what is up???

It obviously seems that the wrong he did was withdrawing but some christians stress it was not keeping his brothers lineage. Isn't this the same thing as using a condom?

Did the guys who wrote the Bible hear 'voices' in their heads and thought those voices was God telling the what to write down word for word?

How did they make up the bible stories? Take Noah and the arc. Did Noah take two kangaroos on to the arc? How? Kangaroos are only found in Australia, not the middle east. So how come we have kangaroos today?

Is cross generational guilt relevant? Are we permenantly marred with the crimes of our ancestors? What if they did something great, are we then better ourselves? Should caucasians be held guilty for slavery and Jim Crow? Are Americans and Australians guilty for the subjugation of the indiginous peoples? Are the French permenantly indebted to Americans or the Germans indebted to the Jews? If so when does it stop, after all you don't hear the Greeks complaining about the Roman conquest.

Alot of atheist claim to have grown up in a religious home and as such rebelled and are now atheists.

But alot of people, including myself, grew up in an atheist home and have found Christ.

Which are there more of?
