Daniel there is talking about the kingdom of God that Jesus has been put in charge of, it is this kingdom that will rule pover all the earth and never again will humans rule themselves to make such a mess of things for themselves that's why in verse 14 it says that this kingdom is without a time limit and will nev er be given over to any other peoplebut the kingdom of God will be the sole Government all over the earth without any end to it with jesus being in charge of God's kingdom , This is the kingdom that we pray for in Matthew6:9,10 "Let your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven...." Thhis kingdom is to be headed by Jesus who has been given authority to take charge of God's kingdom by God, he[Jesus] will rule through God's messianic kingdom for a thousand years and then he will give the authority and lead to back to God

This is a prophecy of the second coming of Jesus Christ when He establishes His 1000 year reign. What is even more interesting to compare in this same chapter is verses 9 & 10 with Revelation 1:14; 20:11-15

Perhaps this excerpt from Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on this passage will help you:
"The Messiah is here called the Son of man; he was made in the likeness of sinful flesh, and was found in fashion as a man, but he is the Son of God. The great event foretold in this passage, is Christ's glorious coming, to destroy every antichristian power, and to render his own kingdom universal upon earth. But ere the solemn time arrives, for manifesting the glory of God to all worlds in his dealings with his creatures, we may expect that the doom of each of us will be determined at the hour of our death; and before the end shall come, the Father will openly give to his incarnate Son, our Mediator and Judge, the inheritance of the nations as his willing subjects."
This is Jesus Christ appearing to reign on the earth. A previous answerer said something like this was before the time of Jesus. Now, how is that, I wonder, since He is eternal, the Alpha and the Omega? No, Jesus was present even when the world was created, and before then. Though we cannot fully understand the Trinity, a help is to think of it was 1 x 1 x 1 = 1, only, the Trinity is like both sides of the equation at once. We cannot fully understand this infinite concept with our finite minds. Hope that this helps, God bless!

Here Jesus is enthroned before God as king, His second coming. "And to him were given rulership and dignity and kingdom", and it countinues to tell about the new kingdom of God that is to be established both in heaven and on earth. This takes place from December 1914-June 1918, it has already taken place-see rev. 11:3. It speaks of a kingdom that will include people of all nations and national groups-Mathew 24:14. This will be the last kingdom on earth and it will last for ever, it will not be handed down to any one, it is God's kingdom. This has taken place and now Jesus readies his angelic forces to remove all wickedness from the earth in order to establish this kingdom-Revelation 16:14-16. At Revelation 20:1-3 Satan and his demons have been defeated and Satan is put away for 1000 years while God"s kingdom takes shape-Revelation 21:1-5, here we read about the new heavens and the new earth-God's kingdom will rule from heaven over the new earth-Revelation 7:9. All the resurrected people that God chooses as well as those that come out of the great tribulation will be brought to perfection over a period of 1000 years, and then Satan will be loosed again to try and mislead them-those that fall for his traps will be destroyed for ever because once you are perfect and sin you can not gain everlasting life- as Adam And Eve did. Satan will then be destroyed for ever for his attempt to challenge God's universal sovereignty, or right to rule-back in the garden of Eden. Now the earth will be a paradise, just as it was intended to be from the beginning, with Jusus Christ ruling as king with 144,000 associates from heaven-Revelation 7:3-4..........The prophesy of Daniel gives a timetable for the events of the Revelation given to John.....KECK

The son of Man that will sit at the right hand of God and be given authority to rule. It's remarkable how many times he referred to himself by this discription in the gospels.

He is God, and the second member of the Godhead. All power and dominion are His. He will rule and reign over the earth. His kingdom shall never pass away.
