Is it okay to lie if it suits YOUR purpose? If lying helps you in your quest....then it's okay?

Lying when it protects someone from evil isn't wrong, that's why God praised her and even made her an ancestor to Jesus. When ppl hid Jews during WWII, they would tell Nazis there weren't any Jews there, bc the Nazis were going to kill them. If lying is done to prevent evil, then it's fine. There's no reason for a Christian to tell the truth if it allows someone to do evil. We should always combat evil, and if it means we don't tell the truth, fine. I think lying may be better defined as not telling the truth with malicious intent. Since the ppl hiding Jews and Rahab were trying to do something good by protecting ppl, it was fine.

God uses all things to His glory, even our sins. Since you're splitting hairs about Rahab telling a lie, why not question the many many other sins that people committed that God used to accomplish His purposes. Was David not a murderer? Did Aaron not make a golden calf? We are ALL sinners and there are no "degrees" of sin. No "little" sins. God is still using everything that we do to accomplish His purposes. He will not be thwarted.

The Laws of God were handed down to the Israelites, not other people. Rahab was not an Isralite.

Rahab was not an isrealite however she did convert later and marry one of the Isrealites

She received the favor of G-d as it was part of the plan for Israel. You can do nothing better than to bless Israel, or to act according to the will of G-d. Also, she did not yet even know the law.

Great Question

G-d himself fibs in the bible in order to keep the peace between abraham and sarah. the idea is that you should try to keep peace whenever possible, even if it involves a lie to do so.
