I am considering finding a new church to attend in the West Carrollton, Miamisburg area. The church I have attended the last 2 years is struggling and I have moved out of the area, so I am kinda feeling confused, I am wondering if anyone can recommend any churches in this area & advise on looking for a new church.. what I should consider?? I am baptist, looking for a non legalistic Baptist church, or Non Denominational Church, I am also willing to consider other denominations...if you recommend another denomination please discribe what they believe that is different than baptist so that I understand. Also while I know that doctorine is most important, I am also wanting to find a church that plays contemporary music ( i like casting crowns, kutless, chris tomblin types sound). I also am wondering about if any of these churches disicaple their ppl?

If you are doing something special for your neighborhood this holiday season, is this something that simply carries over from the rest of the year or is this a once a year thing? If you only do this once a year, why do you not help out all year long?

I'm thinking about joining Islam, but I need to know a couple things about it. Please give examples if possible

1) Is Islam a religion of peace
2) Does Islam have anything against other religions
3) How do Muslims deal with everyday racism
4) Is there any chance that all religions can coexist peacefully
5) If I become Muslim, would I have to start wearing sandals? It's a stupid question, but I have a shoe fetish.
6) If you got arrested and sent to Syria or Gitmo to be tortured, what would you do? Give false confession and seek legal action
7) How can Muslims improve the image of Islam
8) When will Muslim persecution be over
9) If I become Muslim, would I get a new name
10) If I become Muslim, would I have to do all the praying, or can I become a more liberal Muslim who prays once a day or something
11) Do you ever question the Quran and how much is true
12) Does Islam have anything against women or gay people?

Im really thinking about converting, so any help is good.

For god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that whomever believeth in HIM shall not perish but have everlasting life - Who does the him refer to? Him - Jesus or Him - God? Is it possible Christians have wrongly believed it referred to Jesus and therefore the reason why they worship Jesus instead of god?

It was originally called "Yule" you know. It was re-named "christ-mas" to co-incide with the pagan holiday. That's how early christianity worked, like a thief in the night.
But all of the trappings of paganism are still there;
The tree, the yule log (whether it be a real log or a cake) lights and candles, even worshiping a magic sky-pixie, it's all there.
So, how are your preparations coming along?

If it's giving thainks to Jesus, what are you doing on the other 364 days of the year? Maybe we should ban christmas and learn to give thanks to Jesus EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR, and do it
FROM OUR HEARTS, AND NOT our wallets.
Merry Christmas.

Or have people just added their own parts to it (like permitting slavery, ordering death for women (but not men) who commit adultury and saying it's abomonation to eat shelfish and pork)?

Where did "the holy bible" come from anyway? Wasn't it just put together during the days of the roman empire as a way of codifying the different beliefs of many different sects? Isn't it true that many books were included or rejected based on the votes of scholars of the day?

I received an answer. I was told :When you lay your head on your pillow and close your eyes-Say your given name. God wants you to know that when you came out of your mother's womb that you were given "Ne-Sha-ma"The breath of life. You were selected. Your name was entered into the book of life. He is NOT WILLING that any should perish. It is your CHOICE to take your name out of the book. He had YOU personally in mind when he went to the cross. You will close your eyes and see light. He is light. He loves you with an infinite amount of love. All yours sins past present and future were poured unto him and judged. "
That was my answer. For you I prayed. He answers my prayers. HE LOVES US ALL!!!Peace out.

I know some atheists and really i dont have any problem with them, i like their sense of humor and i respect them. If i offended someone of you, please forgive me because really i dont wanna do it. And i wonder your non-believer identity is only based on God and religions or dont you "believe" in anything at all like human feelings, spirituality, sixth sense etc..

We live in a complicated world, and it's difficult to discern what to do or say sometimes.
Where ideology comes into play in this is as a shortcut around this difficult work, thus It's difficult to say without a often shortcutting around complex consideration of history, politics, theology and morals.
WHEN “God's” WORD IS ASSUMED to be clear, consistent - and IDENTICAL TO the social mores of MY PARTICULAR GROUP - then we don't need to go to the bother of all that ethical discernment. The one surefire way to tell if someone is a Christianist is their hatred of "moral relativism." [above modified from the writing of Pastor Dan at http://www.streetprophets.com/]
I do concede that to a certain extent, discernment is never free from ideological bias and ideology is in turn influenced by who and what we are as individuals. Knowing this points up a need , as I see it, for avoidance of absolutism.
My opinion: Faith is not a trump card in a secular setting except for some of the faithful

America as I have known it is moving away from basic principles that made our country great. Maybe it's no big deal that a town is not celebrating Christmas proudly, but I think it shows a much bigger problem going on. An under current of apathy, arrogance and selfishness that historically has caused the demise of other great civilizations. Citizens used to rally together to voice their choice. Things got done. Things changed. Not all for the better. But people were interested and involved because they cared about all of us, not just their home or town.
