"Christmas" is a winter solstice celebration (Saturnalia) that was co-opted by early Christians to memorialize the birth of the founder of their church. Odd, really, when you consider the bible and other accounts suggest Jesus was born in September or October!

As for Christmas we celebrate it for Christ birthday my Aunt read the story of his birth from the bible and everyone sits around and listens it is nice! We also have presents and we do enjoy all the family getting together but we do know the true meaning of Christmas!!! My Kids use to make Jesus a birthday cake for Christmas when they were younger. Hi "Santa Is dead"...catchy name! ....Anyway....as to "the point of Christmas?...in my Christian belief, Christmas to me, is a traditional holiday for getting together with friends and family, a warm cozy feeling that hi-lights the long winter months, and a wonderful family dinner together. That is what it is to me. As much as it is a good day, ....the truth is that I celebrate it ONLY as a tradition, not in a "religious" way.
There is no truth, according to the Bible that Christ was born December 25th. This is a Pagan day, instituted a long time ago, for "Saturnalia".. a winter Solstice, and it was incorporated into celebrating Christ's birth, at the same time.
The Bible hides the actual date of Christ's birth, as that's not the focus. The focus is on Christ and His message. BUT when you read further into the Bible, you'll discover that He was actually born in the Fall of the year, around the Holy Day called, "Feast of Trumpets", and it is very likely that Christ will also return on this Holy Day. The sound of a Trumpet, will announce His arrival...
Christmas is great as a day to be together and have a traditional and wonderful time, BUT many people are deceived by believing that Christ is in that Holiday.
You are right, we should worship Christ everyday of the year.
It is also true that people drain their wallets, buying gifts for everyone...BUT that is, in essense, worshipping the person whose birthday it is, but buying gifts for everyone, but not for Him.
I'm not being a "Scrooge" here... I'm just answering your question truthfully! ;~)
Wouldn't it be nice if we all had the real meaning of what Christmas is SUPPOSED to be, in our hearts and toward all people, every day!!!

From your point of view, I can see that christmas is dead. Without all the selling and buying, at this time of year, all you have left is peace on earth and good will toward men. Ok lets break that down. Peace on earth will be acheived when we express good (God) will toward people. It's really that simple. Talk to God about your frustration. Then listen for an answer.

If we can pull out all the stops to celebrate each other`s birthdays then surely we can do as much for Jesus.

They will continue to Mock Christ and anything associated with Him, till the very end.....!
(2Timothy 3:13-to-17) But EVIL MEN and SEDUCERS shall DO Worse and Worse, Deceiving, and Being Deceived.
(2Ti 3:14) But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
(2Ti 3:15) And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
(2Ti 3:16) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
(2Ti 3:17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Thanks, RR
